Am i alone, out of my Switch games, BOTW bored me to death. I just couldn't get into it. maybe i should try it again.

Nope not alone, BotW was just incredibly boring in my opinion. Dead world, boring dungeons, hated the breaking weapons system so much that I ended up avoiding every single fight I could. To me it is the worst Zelda game ai ever played. I had more fun with Zelda 2.

Same here, i appreciate that it is different from standard open world games(but it is more a sandbox game than a theme park ow),
i understand that people like it, i know that it has some cool ideas from a game design perspective. but to me it was a bummer, the best part of the game was the beginning on the plateau.

i felt that it lacked that certain Zelda magic, it was repetitive which is ironic because it did open world different but in the end there was the same repetition than in standard open world games. just because there isn´t a visible checklist doesn´t mean it didn´t have checklist elements. and the game is just too empty for its own good. ultimately it was just boring to me and still feel that it is massively overrated. i definitely agree with Jim Sterling on this one.
The biggest problem with BotW for me is the lack of narrative as well as being a very unrewarding game. You'll do a lot of small puzzle solving in which in the end rewards you with a weapon that will eventually break or korok seed/ or the thing you collect for hp/stamina upgrade. I'm a huge fan of classic Zelda formula though so the removal of huge, intricate dungeon didn't help.

You are not alone but you every time you voice your opinion to say you didn't like it or enjoy it as much as the rest, a bunch of people jump at you claiming it redefined RPGs and it's the best game of all time and so on and so on. It's tiring.

I found it boring, with great art style but the story, dungeons and parts of the gameplay bad, boring or in some cases (weapon degradation) really annoying.

Oh shit, 40 out of 40 by Famitsu???

Tsushima's perfect as Nintendogs confirmed.

A few pages back people were cancelling preorders saying the game was offensive to the Japanese...

You guys are literally just making me want to play Breath of the Wild right now. Unfortunately, I'm like barely awake just waiting for my laundry to dry.

Buddy really said, I won't allow a score lower than a 9 for TLOU. It's the minimum.

To be fair, I somewhat agree. I don't see how anyone, without an agenda, can look at that game and give it a 6 or 7. Whatever you think of the story, good or bad, that game is NOT a 7 out of 10. If it is, we need to have a serious discussion about the standards of video games and how we rate and compare them.

That's why we read the reviews. And different sites use their scales differently.

Well it seems to be about matching up with my initial impressions of the game. An overall decent to good game that follows the standard open world formula, like Spider-Man. I'll probably pick it up on sale or something. Not everything needs to be revolutionary and hardly any games are anyways

Imagine I went into every John Wick thread and said hey do you know that Mad Max Fury Road did it better? Oh here's John Wick 2, did you know that Mad Max Fury Road did it better? Ah John Wick 3, did you know that Mad Max Fury Road did it better? At some point it becomes almost insecure to bring it up every time even if you're correct.

(Mad Max Fury Road is amazing btw)
I often see more posts where some people, who really hold a strange grudge against the game, make sure to slam it every chance they get, even in threads that have nothing to do with the game, rather than people going around talking about it being amazing every couple of seconds. There's a few posters even in this thread and on this exact page who do exactly that. The game truly does live rent free inside of many whom hate it

I know that Famitsu scores don't matter, but a great achievement all the same.

Does this temper the complaints that I've been seeing about the game's supposed Orientalism at all in your eyes?

Not to be a conspiracy theorist, but isn't it kinda odd that a Japanese review site decided to award the highest ratings for a Japanese-centric video game???
Hmm....

10 pages of shitting on the Witcher 3 in a Ghosts of Tsushima review thread lol, never change era.

Anyhow scores are pretty good and what I expected given what theyve shown so far. Going to wait for my friends impressions first.

Hmm....

Nobody bothered with US outlets scoring every single GTA a (near) perfect score, f. ex. so i wouldn't read too much into it.

Cool, anyways. I wonder if this is a precursor to general Japanese audience reaction to the game. That would be... Quite something, if Sucker Punch were to be the Sony studio to break out in Japan XD

It's most likely that the 4 random (?) reviewers liked the game, isn't that how Famitsu reviews? They pick random reviewers right?

Switzerland
has there really only been 27 perfect score from famitsu?

that seems so low
EDGE only gave out about as many (10/10) in its 25+ years. Last game they did that was Dreams getting a 10 out of 10. Dreams didn't grab me but there's no denying that it's an incredible achievement. Making a very accessible game creation too that allows for such a diversity of genres must have been incredibly difficult.

But I digress. Congratulations Suckerpunch! You did the island of Tsushima proud. Looking forward to Friday.
