I want to play this so bad, but I feel this is gonna make Gamepass within a few months. But if it somehow drops to 20 on Xbox during the holiday, I might bite.

This is a videogame ass videogame. If you are someone that's missed the "BBB" tier of software that kind of disappeared for a few years, give Ghostrunner a shot. It has this feel of extreme craftmanship combined with a charmingly low stakes presentation. It's not that the story is bad, but it's full of cliches and kind of goofy. The voiceover of the main narrator is great, but everyone else kind of just competent. You do a stretch of platforming, then you do a stretch of combat, then you get dumped into an honest to god block pushing puzzle. I'm here for it. This is my jam. I think it looks great. Music is thumping. Controls and plays very well on my humble 1070/7600k @1440p. It's cheap. Pretty fucking good.

Debating whether or not I should refund the PC version and pick up the PS4 version now that I know the graphics problems are going to be fixed. How does it play on the controller? Thoughts?

PS - We need an OT already!

Interesting. I was playing earlier on my PS4 Pro sometimes it is alright but there are times where the screen tearing and aliasing are so noticable it is kind of nuts. Being a bug makes a bit of sense.
If you are playing on a 1080p screen with supersampling off it’s supposed to be fine. It’s an issue if you have a 4K display.

There's a 1.03 patch on PS4 now so decided to start it up. It's god-awfully ugly, with extreme aliasing (despite the image looking native 1080p now?) and crazy screen tearing to boot. The bad thing is, even the intro cinematic is tearing like crazy which is very odd.

PS4 Patch 1.04 just dropped. Fixes the blurry PS4 Pro issues. It's not as smooth as I'd like, but it looks like a PS4 Pro game now and doesn't tear from the few mins I've seen.

I am currently reviewing it. Impressive game. Nice graphics (Xbox One X), interesting lore, and, at its core, the best implementation of parkour I have ever seen. This mixes Mirror´s Edge, Titanfall, Superhot and Katana Zero in a very creative way.

I hated the first hour or so, but once I started to improve, it felt extremely rewarding. Potential candidate for my GOTY list.

Only problem I had: my Xbox went through a hard reset every time I tried to resume my playthrough after a standby.

Downloading that new PS4 patch right now. I really hope it will be better now. Will report in a few minutes.

Edit: Game just freezed before even reaching the main menu, lol.

Edit: Seems like it has less aliasing now, but still hardcore screen tearing :(

Edit: And another freeze. Yeah, nope.

I tried 4k super sampled mode and forced 1080p. In 4k super sampled mode the framerate takes a huge hit. Feels like it even goes below 30fps here and there. Heavy screen tearing is always there, no matter which mode.

It is night and day better in 4K now on PS4 Pro than it was previously. It’s gone from blurry to fairly crisp and clean. I replayed through several levels on the new 1.04 patch for maybe 2 hours today and it didn’t crash at all. No tearing either. Maybe there’s a problem now if you are running the Pro on a 1080p set but it’s defo fine in 4K. No obvious tearing that I saw, certainly nothing like pre patch.

Hm, weird. I can confirm the better resolution, but the screen tearing is definitely still hardcore on my end. No matter which resolution/mode. Gonna delete and reinstall now, but I don't have too much hope.

Edit: I'll also try it on my girlfriends PS4 Pro and her 4K TV.

Edit: Now played it on PS4 Pro + 4K TV.
Still the same screen tearing. Noticeable right from the very beginning, and it only gets worse the further you play, especially in bigger rooms with many enemies. So, no it wasn't because I played it on a 1080p TV before that.

Weird. I didn't notice it the way I did on the horrid low resolution version yesterday. Maybe I'm numb to it now. :D I'm probably going to stop playing it now anyway and see how it performs on the PS5, rather than using my sons PS4 pro whilst he's at school. :D

I can't tell if I like this game or not. When things click you feel like a god, when they don't its a ton of "wait what just killed me? why did I die to that, that bullet was way wide".

For me it feels like deflecting bullets is inconsistent, but I probably also suck. I get that getting a perfect run is the central game mechanic, but it would be cool to also have a mode where you can block shots easier and be a total badass.

There's an upgrade that makes the window more generous, but FWIW I beat the game without deflecting. Found mobility/ability boosts better, specifically Tempest.

Playing on PC, I'm having a blast.
After the demo, I was curious to see how they could keep the formula interesting enough and, well, the game adds alot of ideas to the Mirro'rs Edge blueprint and with a great pace.

This game is SO SATISFYING! I love everything about it. Music, aesthetics (amazing) and of course, gameplay (godlike).

This was the mirror's edge hotline miami cyberpunk game I always needed. Soooo good

I beat it yesterday and thought it was great. Everything just flows so well and the ability to alter your skills at any time was nice. Only thing I didn't love was the bosses after the first one. I thought TOM was amazing and fit very well with what you'd learned up to that point. It took me way too long to figure out what I was supposed to do to beat the others, though that might just be me.

Noob question but how does one enable DX12 on the EGS version of the game?
On GoG it added a DX12 shortcut to the programs menu. But it seems to be just the regular exe with -dx12 flag added to the shortcut, so you could always do it yourself it it didn't automatically create it.

Just played a bit over an hour and refunded the game.

The gameplay is fun and fast paced, but the enemies don't feel like they fight fair.

You surprise attack one jumping through the window and you already have a bullet flying close to your face from another guard. There is NO reaction time on their part. None.
There is also no way to close in on enemies apart from jumping-slowmo-strafing-dash, but you still have to be incredible lucky because their bullets have hitboxes like your sword it seems and you get hit by phantom hitboxes quite often.

That makes it, way to clunky in its execution sadly, which in return makes it more frustrating than challenging.

Soundtrack is dope tho.

I absolutely love cyberpunk, hotline Miami, and mirrors edge. This game should have been the perfect game for me. And yet, something is not quite clicking yet after two hours. I don’t seem to have a good mental model of movement (I feel I sometimes execute the same sequence of movements and either completely overshoot my target or pathetically come short). The combat I’m not loving either; I like every encounter is like a puzzle but feel my success or lack thereof is a lot of luck. Hard to see where bullets are coming from sometime, and you kind of have poor control over the basic slow motion/ blink power. Never feels right. I hope it clicks as I learn more but right now it’s just ok for me. :(
Edit: basically the post above mine. I’m disappointed!

Like half an hour into the game you get a powerup that lets you close in on enemies with a dash attack.

The graphics options seem horribly bugged in this game on PC. It seems it will just ignore settings and reset them at will, the demo didn't seem to have these issues. Hope they fix it soon otherwise I'll seek a refund.

The key is to not run directly towards an enemy. If you stay moving and approach them by not running in a straight line towards them (i.e. wall running to the side of them) then they have a much harder time hitting you while you can get close enough to close the gap with the dash.

IF you have to move directly towards somebody, you can dash through bullets with the blink ability or you can deflect bullets, assuming it's not a machine gun enemy, which they very rarely make you run directly towards in these encounters.

I rarely got so frustrated on a game like this one

First of all, its 2020 and it's still a pain to change qwerty control to azerty control.

Fucking hell PC dev, how HARD is it to not fuck a key biding tool ?

Secondly, why double dash doesnt work in air ?

Third : some action have a lot of magnet some other dont. Sometimes some don't have magnet. Very inconsistant, very frustrating.

Let's talk about enemies aim bot. Ridiculous. You jump, dash, wall ride, attack from their back on top of their heads, they instant turn around and shoot you. They just introduced shielded ennemies... Combat feels so random. I don't feel like I'm in control. Just lucky when I get the hit before the enemy. The time dilatation to dodge just don't work. Enemy will aimbot you and you will push yourself out of the way making yourself way too vulnerable becausey ou still have to close the distance. See the magnet attack / lundge comment.

Chargring abilities ? The blind attack is useless if you have to charge it for 15 tries before it gets usuable. Horrible decision.

I really wish I had a least a distance attack on cooldown, something like a throwing knife / star with heavy drop, just to get rid of mid distance enemies.

I'm about to drop this game the third way through. I'm not having fun at all.

Wasn't gonna get it launch day even though I loved the demo, but I couldn't pass up the $18 deal on GMG, it's hard as hell but the quick checkpoint restart is good (although some checkpoints are way too far apart). Also, it's one of the first games where I don't like the dlss implementation so no rtx for me here, but it looks bomb without so it's a win win :D

This might be my game of the year. I haven't finished a few of the top releases but in terms of fun factor and the cyberpunk aesthetics it's top notch. I hope they can fix the performance with raytracing turned on. I mean I can play it over 60 but I can also play it at 165 without it. But fuck is it fun to play and look at.

3D Realms?! Damn it already bought the game. Didn't know they ventured outside of retro FPSs.
I appreciate you acknowledging the issue. As you can see in the thread most people are hand waiving the issue or just blowing past the first post. Still crazy to me that people can just ignore outright enablers of bigotry.

Beat it last night and the game is a blast. Gonna give it another play through to get all the swords and other collectibles. Hope they make some DLC or a sequel or anything really, I could go for more of this.

The gameplay is slowly starting to click... slowly!
This plays supposedly much better on keyboard and mouse, and I can see why! Doing 180 to kill the shielded enemies is way slow on controllers. Should I kiss my hard earned ghost runner muscle memory goodbye and switch to kB+m?
Also how the hell do you beat the
shockwave robots?
tempest works but it doesn’t work for two in a row

They released an update yesterday that fixes this and also includes fullscreen.

Nah it’s still borked. Based on some steam forum discussion it seems RTX isn’t working properly, limits the GPU usage, frame rate doesn’t go far pst 60 regardless of settings and choppy to boot. May be an issue with 30 series cards, I don’t know, but I’ve tried it on a 1440p and ultra wide 1600p monitor and I’m getting the same choppy performance regardless. Turn DLSS on and drop the render resolution? Same results.
