Being a somewhat infrequent poster doesn't really lend itself all that well to discord for me. I like to catch up on the 5-10 pages I missed in the community thread since I last posted, and kinda prefer the message board aspect to real-time group messaging. Maybe I'm a boomer.
Yeah, I already pretty much avoid gaming side altogether due to how shitty it is when it comes to, well, any sort of issues. This shit just feels bad.
Yeah I know about that one and went there once... Not sure if it's worth going back again after that?
Also, I just played the whole night and I still have nowhere near enough fuel to upgrade any of my platforms... I've been staff capped on every platforms for a couple of days now... This is getting annoying...
Everytime you find one of those soldiers from the old mother base you'll get a new Paz picture and you should take it back to her. I think there are 10 pictures in total, you need to find them all to complete that side quest.
Also, if you need a lot of fuel you should raid the Soviet Base Camp or Nova Braga Airport, both of them have lots of fuel containers.
the existing Discord group doesn't really match with who's actively here, to the point that I'd say it'd probably merit making a new one (which I think they'd probably appreciate over a burst in activity too?)

I still have discord installed but I never post there, it's too fast and hard to follow!

Don't get me wrong... I do/say some fucking terrible stuff at times so this is to be expected and I'm ok with it... It's just "funny" that I decided to randomly reinstall Discord for no particular reason a few months back and when I logged it that stuff was literally the most recent posts on the main channel haha
i recommend not talking out of your asses. the server consists of many of the old gb thread regulars from the gaf years. so yes, it would probably make sense to make a new server if you wanted one (although people are welcome to join the existing one, of course).

discord as a form of chatting doesn't have to be for you but it's pretty unnecessary to just be vaguely negative about ours

This time I might actually catch a ban because I told a certain acephobic mod to go fuck himself, so it's been real if I do. If someone makes a new discord I wouldn't mind an invite.

nah, i was removed. i went to check the channel one day after a few weeks of inactivity and noticed the channel was gone from my list. but its whatever it is what it is.
A certain member of the old GB gaf/era discord who recently made a new account here and started posting in this thread definitely one time screencapped my tweets to dunk on them in the discord so yeah, it's that kinda place.
I was always... surprised, to say the least, about that person being a mod...
I was removed too, shortly after era went up, dunno why.
ok i don't remember what happened there but yeah. also don't remember what the first instance was but the second was you being unhappy with someone's posts but instead of just saying it you posted a broad generalisation based on them in the thread. that kind of cross-posting was definitely a problem
that was a crazy time, so many flooding in and we definitely removed people who never chimed up or who we didn't recognise at some point (god, feels so long ago now) but obviously super likely that a couple false positives snuck in there. anyway both of ya (and other old regulars) are welcome anytime, that was always clear

The chapters in the latter half of Death Stranding sure do breeze by huh? I can fully see myself finishing the game today.
Anyway I think I've played all I'm gonna play aside from rounding out my DS playthrough and getting further in JFO. Here's a tentative top ten:

Where's all the hipster indie games? This is a mainstream-ass list. Possibly even moreso than GB's itself. (And I'm with you on about half of it)
Actually I expect GB's list to be fairly close to this. Shuffle it around a bit, replace LA with LM3 and put Modern Warfare on there maybe.
I'm really not interested in Disco Elysium, I hit a complete wall with Baba Is You and Untitled Goose Game just seemed like a fun novelty but I might still check out Hypnospace Outlaw, sure.
Still Sayonara Wild Hearts and Outer Wilds gotta count for something, I can't really say this was a big year for attention grabbing indies anyway. There was no Obra Dinns or Into the Breaches imo.

I'm mostly taking the piss, it's all fine, of course. But FWIW SWH and Wilds were included on the two big subscription services so that really starts to skirt the definition of "indie" for me.
And I only agree with half of it because I can only think of 5 or 6 games I know I'd put on a top 10 (and they're on yours). I feel like I gotta scrounge to round out my list this year.

Neither Pokemon or Jedi are going to make my top 10, as much as I'm enjoying them. There's too many games on that list I'd be too sad to bump off. I think the only other thing left this year is the last Shovel Knight stuff coming out in December.
instead of buying the jedi game and being able to follow conversation i ended up blasting through the first half of Umineko... and i wish i had read that when people were still talking about it. There's a lot of stuff going on there.
I also realised that I prefer to not have choose your own adventure style choices in a story that's actually good. I still enjoy them when there's actual mechanics tied into it, like reputation/mangement systems or figuring something out, but the basic "do i go with A or B" without much context holds little appeal. At that point i just hope i picked the more interesting option instead of it feeling like roleplaying.

Just gonna vent but I also barely go to discord due to people just talking shit about me behind my back.
One person who I won't name brought up something from my past that I'm not proud of but idiotically posted about on a different forum and now the entire community knows so that's fucking awesome.
So yeah I'll stay here where I feel welcome for the most part.
