Also white smoke is used to indicate that a new pope has been selected. Game of the year is like the pope for Giant Bomb.
When a new pope is elected all cardinals come toghether to debate who will be next. This can take a long time. Once a successor is decided, white smoke emits from the building they converse in as a sign that a new pope has been elected.
