Twenty-two women are suing the adult video production company Girls Do Porn for fraud, coercion, and misrepresentation, after the company spread and sold the videos online—even after it promised the films would likely never reach a wide audience.

According to NBC 7 in San Diego, the lawsuit alleges that Girls Do Porn owners Michael Pratt and Matthew Wolfe, as well as actor and recruiter Andre Garcia, convinced the women—all ages 18 to 22—to agree to be filmed having sex on camera, but without them realizing the videos would be widely distributed and sold on the internet.
According to the lawsuit, Girls Do Porn posted ads to Craigslist that appeared to be for modelling gigs, but when the women responded with interest, the company revealed that the job was actually to shoot porn. They were assured that the videos would only be sold on DVDs to "private collectors" in Australia and New Zealand, according to the plaintiffs, and that no one they knew would ever come across the films.

That wasn't the case. Not only did Girls Do Porn post the videos to its website, the videos were ripped off and spread on free clip sites like Pornhub and YouPorn, where friends and family apparently noticed them in some cases. Girls Do Porn also has an official channel on Pornhub, where it posts clips from the videos. Those videos have gained 672 million views over the eight years the channel has been up.
Lock if this was already posted but Jesus Fucking Christ.

Highly illegal and probably impossible to prove if its not stated in the contracts. At least one of those girls better have emails or tape or something.

Yeah, that sucks if true. Good luck trying to win without proof, though.

Sounds like a real hard case to win if it was spread by rips uploaded across streaming sites.
well the complaint seems to be that they were told the videos weren't going to be online at all, just put on physical media and sold to specific people. the videos were in fact put in their official website, which lead to them spreading to the various streaming sites.

I always thought "casting couch" pornos were made with actual porn actors or sex workers acting as unassuming models. Fucked up to find out they were actually being taken advantage of

Too young, dumb and naive.

We should really try and upgrade the legal porn age to 21, it won't stop these things from happening. It will however make sure their mind is fully grown and in the best place possible to make a decision about lifechanging events like these.

It also feels less exploitative

These aren't casting couch pornos. Every video starts off with the woman already sitting on a bed. Everything is in place from the jump.

gonna be a hard case to win. they can always claim they did give it to private owners who could have just ripped the shit to whatever website. then they can claim they just downloaded it from said website. i dont know how these girls thought that this stuff was ever going to stay "private" in the world we are living in today.

They were manipulated and lied to. They could have been 30, wouldn't change shit.

You can tell honestly that many of them are new and either are trying to get into the business or like this article states, some were doing it for a quick pay out. I think there has been plenty of backroom casting couch news where some girls only did one video, got paid good then ended up finishing their school and getting a job. Only to be later found out and harassed. Then of course you have the obvious porn stars that pretend to be amateurs on those videos.

Sucks because GDP was becoming wildfire past year and now this comes out will mean more people will be interested in there videos. Sad state of affairs for the women just wanting to make quick cash and were manipulated :\

Girls Do Porn is different. The vast majority of the girls on the site this is the only porn they ever do.

I knew they used bait and switch with the ad to get girls to respond but telling the girls this will never go online is a whole other level of scummy. Probably illegal as well.

I read an AMA on Reddit by a well known performer and despite being clearly very sexualy liberated and fine with what she does she said the exact same thing.
The industry still chews up and spits out naive young women at an alarming rate.

Damn, that's unfortunate for the women. I used to jack it to these videos all the time a few years ago.

the Only reason I know this exists is because of the girl who did a GDP video in the same clothes she went to welcome back her military boyfriend/husband

If your goal is to model and someone is trying to bait-and-switch porn on you, can't you just... you know, not do the porn?

I've read half a dozen unconfirmed stories about them in the past, basically they set it up as a modeling shoot/nude modeling, fly the girl out to Los Angeles, and then tell them that it's actually porn.

If the girl refuses, they don't pay her and refuse to give her the return plane ticket/pay for a hotel. Most girls would be to embarrassed to call their family and tell them why they are stranded in LA. So they then coerce them by telling the girl it's for a private collector, no one will see it, ECT.

Here is an ama one of the supposed models did. There is no proof, but it lines up with what had come out about the company in the following years.

If they can prove that they made those false promises, in my view it's a very easy case to win, no doubt.

It doesn't even need to involve coercion at all, it was a false promise. For me its illogical to say that the girls should be aware that it was going to be widely distributed online, because, if shooting porn automatically lead to the conclusion that it would be widely available online, why they even used this argument that it was going to be sold to very few buyers then?

They were lied to and expressed their consent to the deal without knowing the true exposure it would get.

The argument that any of potential "super private" buyers could post it online is invalid, because that isn't the case. It's the company itself that made a whole website focused to sell this product.

This site was always the most suspicious. Way too many women who never showed up again in the industry. I figured there was crap like this going on.

Is this the one that had a Miss Teen USA contestant or something? I wonder if she is a plaintiff.

I mean they had to have online distribution rights, and no doubt the women signed a document giving them online distribution rights, so I don't see this going very far without some really damning email or other documents.

Ironically, telling them that they'll only be sold on DVD's to a few people in foreign countries is something so outlandish and unbelievable that you'd expect to hear it in a mainstream porn video.

I sympathize with the women but man, how can someone be that naive?

I don't see how the defense of "but it was ripped on the interwebs not our fault" works when the defendants are uploading and hosting the videos on their official channel on the US' largest streaming site.

I remember reading a reddit ama of one of the girls and the way they did it was it was putting ads for luxury vacation with vague mention of shopping money in exchange for model shoot, which turned into a this is porn blackmail, do the porn or we call your parents or some shit.

From the OP just this line raised red flags about how messy this would be.

would likely never reach a wide audience.

Since they are teens they aren't as experienced in watching porn and it sucks because if they took even a week to think it over and look into it it would be easy to learn how much porn is redistributed regardless of the input of the original owners.

BUT

This is green flag that gives them some hope of winning

Not only did Girls Do Porn post the videos to its website

In certain cases a verbal contract is enough and it might be here but it would be a lot easier if there was a written contract.

Yeah, I always thought those were staged as well.

I mean, it's like when most videos slap a "stepsister" thing on the title despite the fact that the video has nothing to do with that. Figured it would be a clickbait kind of thing. :/

Shit, what GDP does is completely wrong, but also what the fuck at the harassers and that guy holding her hostage in a relationship over the threat of "sending them the link". Fucking sick people.

Are there any ethical porn makers out there? I know the industry is rife with heinous shit.

There are lots of behind the scenes/before the scenes GDP videos where they show the women signing the paperwork before performing, btw.

So I wonder if they falsified the contracts, too.
