They were assured that the videos would only be sold on DVDs to "private collectors" in Australia and New Zealand, according to the plaintiffs, and that no one they knew would ever come across the film.
They believed this in the age of the digital hellscape? Porn might be the best archived thing on the internet.
I wonder if the girls signed anything, otherwise case might be hard to prove.

I've read half a dozen unconfirmed stories about them in the past, basically they set it up as a modeling shoot/nude modeling, fly the girl out to Los Angeles, and then tell them that it's actually porn.

If the girl refuses, they don't pay her and refuse to give her the return plane ticket/pay for a hotel. Most girls would be to embarrassed to call their family and tell them why they are stranded in LA. So they then coerce them by telling the girl it's for a private collector, no one will see it, ECT.

Here is an ama one of the supposed models did. There is no proof, but it lines up with what had come out about the company in the following years.

I remember reading a reddit ama of one of the girls and the way they did it was it was putting ads for luxury vacation with vague mention of shopping money in exchange for model shoot, which turned into a this is porn blackmail, do the porn or we call your parents or some shit.
Jeez, this is absolutely terrible and super scummy.

GDP seems to be extraordinarily scummy even for an industry known to exploit women through coercion and manipulation. This still feels like a real longshot lawsuit, though.

I feel like some serious coercion or intimidation had to be going on, because who seriously takes the word of someone that lied to get you there in the first place? This shit is disgusting.

Too young, dumb and naive.

We should really try and upgrade the legal porn age to 21, it won't stop these things from happening. It will however make sure their mind is fully grown and in the best place possible to make a decision about lifechanging events like these.

It also feels less exploitative
21 year olds can be dumb as shit, too. And 25 is the new number if you want to make a case based on brain maturity. However, IMO, It's less an issue of maturity and more an issue of a coercive situation, which can affect anyone. And I don't mean explicit physical threats or anything, just social pressure and the implication of possibly making strange men angry.

I thought this shit was always staged. I guess most are with GDP videos being the exception?

There's so many real performers out there, why the hell would you lie to people? That's super scummy

Yeah I can see that but damned if I'd trust the word of some seedy porn makers who already lied to get me in the door.

You're 18 and desperate, and while not millions probably the biggest lump sum they've seen up until that point.

Think of all the dumb shit 18 year olds get talked into. I should be dead five times over from when I rolled those dice like a moron back then.

Plus I have no doubt it was a room with multiple men lying their asses off/along with cooercion "you already have ya top off now and we got the footage, just finish off the job".

I remember I had a joke with friends that I could never date someone college aged now im an adult because they have too much hope and the smell of it sickens me, lol. At that age you think you have forever.

If your goal is to model and someone is trying to bait-and-switch porn on you, can't you just... you know, not do the porn?

Often this women are flown down from places paid for by the company. Once they're down there, they're guilted and essentially blackmailed into gettting back home. Are you serious right now?

"Collectors in Australia" LOL yeah sure
Better have everything in writing or...

Anyway, these situations are tricky because they force women to do what they dont want as explained above...

Disgusting. I was never into it really though because I thought it always looked really awkward and like they were uncomfortable.

I... I once had a membership for GdP. Yeah, I have paid for porn. And it's hard to believe those girls didn't know what they were doing.

There are lots of behind the scenes/before the scenes GDP videos where they show the women signing the paperwork before performing, btw.

So I wonder if they falsified the contracts, too.

The AMA woman says the contract and verbal agreements are coerced under the threat of shaming/ financial shakedown.

If they falsified the contracts that they signed, sure they have a case. But lets be real, you are doing porn for an enthusiast rich clientele, and the GDP hotel room/studio is one of the most famous ones beyond the casting couch, you have to live under anrock to not onow what you are getting into. Not bashing them for doing something they were comfortable doing, but for thinking it might not get out there. What is more concerning is if GDP has a clientele list for shit like this they might need to look into them for concern of other productions that would be far more illegal, these kind of markets have some heavy crossover in their clients.

I first heard about the fake modelling gig thing like 5 years ago. Kind of surprised it took this long for anything to happen but I hope the women win.

It's so important you get things in writing these days.

It's going to be a tough litigation though.

From the OP just this line raised red flags about how messy this would be.

Since they are teens they aren't as experienced in watching porn and it sucks because if they took even a week to think it over and look into it it would be easy to learn how much porn is redistributed regardless of the input of the original owners.

BUT

This is green flag that gives them some hope of winning

In certain cases a verbal contract is enough and it might be here but it would be a lot easier if there was a written contract.

Teens aren't experienced in watching porn? What sheltered world do you live in?

I have seen these videos all over Pornhub, I always assumed it was just amateurs looking for a quick thing or break into the industry. Pretty terrible it seems like they weren't upfront with the ladies and lied to them.

For what it's worth, the rational and emotional parts of your brain don't stop growing till 25. Till then your brain works more like a teenager's brain.

How many 18 yo girls do you think are well versed in popular porn channels? There's a reason they target young beyond the fetishes of the audience.

Holy shit this is terrible. I'd think there'd be enough women in LA looking to break into porn that you wouldn't have to strand then in California unless they do your shoot.

For all the people saying that the defence will be that other people ripped and uploaded the videos, GDP have an official channel on pornhub where they post a lot of videos.

Is it bad that I know where this scene is from?

If it's bad, I don't want to be good!

I work in the service industry, and most if not all of my work aquiantances are 18-22yo. You would be shocked at how many times a discussion with my female coworkers turned into a top 5 favorite porn channels chat, everyone watches porn these days, especially the younger generation.

Hell even older women proudly get down with porn these days. In the singles Facebook groups I'm in they're more vocal about it than a lot of the dudes.

Lots of victim blaming in this thread, jesus.

I hope Pornhub deletes their channel over this, immediately. It's fucking gross. They took action against deepfakes (ruled them nonconsensual and removed them) and some other stuff if I remember correctly.

I hope the women win this case.

I'm well aware, but trying to be realistic.
I don't think we'll see 25 in our lifetime, 21 is definitely feasable and would be a massive upgrade.

I'm familiar with this site and it instictually seemed very gross to me. I never watch it. I believe these women were abused and treated like total shit. Screamed at. Intimidated. I assume they regret what they did once exposed to friends and family. I know they didn't get paid what they should.

What I really don't believe is that they were sincerely naive enough on that free flight to shoot a porn for cash that the footage would remain in the hands of a private collector and that they were shocked it was widely released after the shoot. They likely (and understandably) made that up, because unfortunately for them they signed the release. They probably appear un-coerced and very willing in unedited footage. Despite it being a supremely abusive experience.

There is responsibly produced material out there. Find it. It's not hard to find. It's not always free, but then it shouldn't be unless the actress wants it to be.

I hate to say it, but this is going to be a remarkably tough battle to win. If they signed contracts, it's pretty much game over.

Nice victim blaming... But in case you are being genuine let me set the scene....

You're just out of highschool and you want to pursue a modeling career. You've never had a job before, but you think you found your way in. You end up going to a place you've never been, in a part of town you've never been to in an office building you have to be buzzed into.

You're now in a windowless office with 2-4 guys who are telling you that to get to the modeling job you have to shoot some sex scenes. They don't say you can't go, but they are being very forceful in insisting you give it a try, while also promising this will be your big break.

These guys know what they are doing, they've done it dozens of times before, put the young women at a disadvantage, while also promising them everything they want. "Sex is just a necessary part of breaking into the business..." They'll say. "No one you know will ever find out, and it'll all be over in a day and you'll have your foot in the door."
