Greenwald deserves criticism for sure, but he and The Intercept have been crucial in uncovering political corruption in Brazil, and this is a a violent reaction to that in a region of the world where journalists have been murdered. We cannot sit on the fence with this
Absolutely 100%. The work they've been doing is absolutely essential and incredibly brave in speaking truth to power in the face of literal mortal danger given the situation.
Glenn's done a lot of shitty things but this is one where he's totally in the right.
His work on citizen4 struck me as important too. Good guy in my book.

the brazilian right wing is very very homophobic among the other standard bigotries. greenwald's husband was one of two LGBT members elected to the rio city council in 2016, the other guy (his friend) was assassinated last year. in 2018 he joined the national legislature because the gay member he was a substitute for resigned because he got so many death threats. he and greenwald have a bulletproof car.
People are more apt to give the benefit of the doubt to awful people if they sometimes agree with their politics.
Era is incredibly american centrist on everything. Not only social stuff but a lot of people show late stage capitalism symptoms with how much they defend corporations above everything else. But this is really crazy. Actually shrugging off a journalist being attacked because he was doing his job.
