God of War is Game of The Year at 22nd Annual D.I.C.E Awards

If it comes out this year it will lol. I don't see anything else this year that would compete with it. If it comes in 2020 with Cyberpunk they'll split too many awards.
Pretty impressive that God of War overtook Zelda in awards while staving off tough competition from Red Dead Redemption 2.
TLOU got 247 awards in the year of Bioshock Infinite and GTA5. Its madness. I shudder to think where it would have ended up in any other year.
Possibly but if Dreams releases this year I can see that claiming quite a few just for innovation, LBP did afterall.
Well, let's not forget that 2017 was an incredible tough year in terms of competition as well. Persona 5, Resident Evil 7, Gravity Rush 2, Ni-Oh, and many other amazing games.

I think there are still GDC awards next month, and Bafta awards to give out in a couple of months?
It's pretty reasonable for the best game to win a best game award. Congrats to the team on another win. Can't wait for God of War ?2?

Well done, here's to the sequel that I already preordered in my dreams after the seeing the after credits.
Good for them! I was a bit surprised when GoW started winning category after category this year. It wasn't my GOTY but hey, it's a good game. And I'm kind of glad they didn't just go the easy route with RDR2.
It's worth mentioning though that there were wayyyyyy more awards counted that year than any other year. It doesn't touch 247 if the blog was more strict with it's counting that year like it has been since.
It still would've easily reached over 200 though with that competition which is still insanely impressive. Just trying to paint the full picture.
Exactly. A franchise that never had a game win more than 7 GOTY awards I believe and now is seen as one of the best games of all time and has amassed 190 with more to come still. Cory and the team did something that few others can do. Turn a stale franchise around and make people who hated a franchise fall in love with it.
