Both those games are in a genre that is oversaturated. FPS games are a dime a dozen.
Uhm no, 3 mil in 3 days make it sounds like 1mil/day, which is nuts. Meanwhile, 5 million in 2 weeks doesn't sound that impressive tbh.
U4 had 2.7 in its first week. At this point I expect at least 10mio for 2018. Lifetime something around 13-15mio.

Okay maybe i spoke as a person who knows about sales and not a usual person.
But still; a bigger number is generally better.
Especially if you compare them to HZD or UC4.
If God of War already sold 5 or close to 5 million in just the fist 2 weeks, while the others only made 3.x million is impressive...
But yeah Sony can choose the timeframe they want.
No i mean first week sales.

Also I think the biggest thing for Sony is that they hitting it big with their franchises now, they starting to hang with the big boys. Horizon, GOW and UC4 will all pass 10 million lifetime. TLOU2 is another guarantee.

Massive congrats to corybarlog, Santa Monica and Sony. One of the best games this generation and deserves all the sales and success it gets.

The moment of the generation for me was: when Kratos and Atreus share a bottle of mead. Tre takes a sip and kratos snatches it, like gimme dat shit, lil dude.. then they both go ahhhh... shit almost brought a tear to my eye.

Haven't played it, but judging from the intense satisfaction of my friends, it is more than deserved.
Not surprised. Unlike with a lot of creative people, I was assured the game would be good because Corey sounded like he just "got it."
I guess that 4 stands for April, so GoW sold 100k within 11 days and (for example) Far Cry 5 sold 7800 in the entire month.
GoW is the only new game in that list btw.
They appear to be sales for April 2018, so it's not surprising to see God of War taking the crown by a long shot since it just launched a few weeks ago.
The last update we saw for GoW3 put it at 5.1m copies. But that was back in 2012.
Maybe it already did. It sold 3.1 million in 3 days. God of War is already 14 days on the market. And still sold out in a lot of stores.
I'd say it still has a shot, depending on reviews and marketing. If it scores above 90 Metacritic it will be huge because Spidey is one of the most recognisable pop-culture characters in the world and Sony are obviously going to put tons of marketing behind it.
Install base isn't a useful metric for looking at potential exclusive sales though. Gran Turismo 5 sold more than twice the number of GT6 despite coming out well over 3 years earlier, Zelda BotW has sold more than Horizon Zero Dawn despite launching primarily on a brand new platform vs one which, at the time, had sold 60 million units. Halo 3 sold more than Reach or Halo 4 despite those games launching to much larger install bases. And so on. I'm sure there are countless examples showing that install base is only a minor factor in an exclusive game's sales potential.
