Welcome to the GT Sport Community Thread. The purpose of this thread will be to organise racing leagues, time trials and more casual get togethers in the game.
------
Next season details:

gterabanner46fdd5.png

What is it?:

A 6 week endurance race series with a few notable twists:
  • 3 weeks of GR3, 3 weeks of GR4
  • You select a manufacturer at the start of the season and need to stick with that manufacturer throughout the course of the season
  • With the exception of those who select Ford or Renault, there is a single opportunity to switch manufacturers at the mid point of the season (between race 3 and 4)
  • 15 minutes Qualifying
  • 50 minute races with reverse grid starts (the person who qualifies last is on pole)
  • 50l of fuel at the start of the race
  • 3 tire options (Soft, Medium, Hard)
When is it?:

Starting on the 16th September 2018 - Every Sunday at 7:55 UK Time. The sessions will last about an hour in total.

How do I participate?:

Quote this post to see the sign up form at the bottom or PM me for the link. There are a total of 16 grid slots available. Priority will be given to those who state they are able to make all or the majority of races. After that priority will be given to those who have taken part in previous GT-Era events (Endurance series). There is also the option to sign up as a reserve driver if you wish which will enable you to be alerted on a weekly basis should a slot become available.

SCHEDULE (ALL RACES HAVE BEEN PUSHED BACK BY ONE WEEK, FINAL RACE IS NOW ON THE 28TH OCTOBER):

Rules and Guidelines

  • The Manufacturer you select for the first race of the season is the manufacturer you have to stick with until the manufacturer transfer window opens between races 3 and 4.
  • If your selected manufacturer has more than one GR3 or GR4 car option (e.g. Lexus for GR3 and Renault for GR4) then you need to select one of the cars and stick with it. You cannot jump between cars within the same class category from race to race
  • If you select Renault or Ford at the start you are NOT eligible for a manufacturer transfer, you must stick with that manufacturer for the duration of the 6 weeks.
  • Between race weeks 3 and 4 if you wish to switch manufacturer you must announce your decision by posting in this thread prior to the GR4 race at Suzuka

  • Race clean - Battle for positions but be fair :)
  • If you cause a collision that causes one or more other car(s) to lose control or go off track concede those positions prior to resuming your own race
  • If you leave the track be careful when rejoining
  • When on your out or in lap during qualifying be aware of your surroundings on the track and try your best to stay off the racing line.
  • Have fun :)

Qualifying:

  • Make sure you are on the track, not in the pause menu and past the first sector prior to the race countdown starting. Qualifying times not registering tend to involve one of those factors.
  • Avoid using the pause button while out on the track for prolonged periods of time. This can cause disruption to other drivers who are on their hot lap as the CPU will auto drive your car slowly along the racing line. Park your car on the side of the track without pausing or exit the track.
  • When we get towards the end of qualifying everyone take a screenshot so that I will be able to see where you finished up on the qualifying standings in the event that the game does not register your qualifying position correctly. I will send a message in game when qualifying is over and allow everyone around 30 seconds to grab a screenshot before starting the race countdown.

General & Bug Guidelines:

  • Races are grid start - be ready :)
  • In the event of experiencing a bug such as not being able to move off the grid at the start of the race or not being able to see other drivers send an in game message immediately.
  • Everyone will then be instructed to exit the race and return back to the lobby screen
  • You (and anyone else who experiences any issues) should exit the lobby completely and rejoin ASAP
  • Everyone then needs to reenter and go to track IN ORDER OF QUALIFICATION.
  • The race will then restart

  2. If all points are amassed via race results then the driver with the highest placed result will place higher (e.g. CLR_CMOS & RounD )
  3. If the two results are identical then the drivers will be placed in alphabetical order until rules 1 and/or 2 can be applied through future results (e.g. cooldawn & Fifanutz )

After an enjoyable first season the Resetera GT Endurance League is back for a second season.

What is it?:

The races are multi-class with 8 teams of 2 drivers. Each team will consist of 1 GR3 driver and one GR4 driver. I would love to run this series with grids larger than 16 but GT Sport only allows for a maximum of 16 grid slots in online lobbies. Races are done using BOP settings but you will need to set them manually upon entering the lobby.

When is it?:

Every Sunday at 9PM GMT. The sessions usually last about an hour in total (allow an hour and 15 minutes for the final race of the season).

How do I participate?:

Quote this post to see the sign up form at the bottom or PM me for the link. If there is a main slot available and you state you will be available for every week then you will be given it. Failing that you will be placed on the reserves list and will be alerted in the event that a main driver is unable to participate for a particular race.

RULES & POINTS SYSTEM

gtsporterapointssystefsutd.png

Working example of points system:
You qualify 1st (8 points) but have a terrible start and drop down to last place in your class. You manage to fight your way back to 7th place (4 points) and set a fastest lap in the process (3 points). You finish the race with 15 points.

granturismosport_201818spe.png

granturismosport_20188ast0.png

When you enter the lobby select your car, then go to the car settings menu and find the following section:

gtsportbopztqhw.png

Then set the settings that apply to your car from the list above.

  • (GR3 drivers) - When overtaking GR4 cars be sensible and safe about it.
  • (GR3 drivers) If you wouldn't overtake another GR3 car in that location of the track then don't attempt an overtake there (tight S-bends/chicanes/etc) unless the GR4 driver has made it clear they are letting you past. Be patient.
  • (GR3 drivers) When you are about to perform your overtake flash your lights 2/3 times to make it clear to the GR4 driver that you are about to make your move.

  • (GR4 drivers) - Do not intentionally block GR3 drivers from overtaking, even if it might be helping your teammate out ;) .
  • (GR4 drivers) - When you see a GR3 car approaching, don't panic and make sudden erratic movements. If it is clear the GR3 driver can get past you easily and they have flashed their lights simply hold your line.
  • (GR4 drivers) - If you want to make your intentions clear and make way for the GR3 driver to perform the overtake then use your indicators to state which side of the track you will be moving over to as you would on public roads.

  • (Everyone) Failure to adhere to apply the correct BOP settings to you car will result in a -75% points penalty.
  • (Everyone) When on your out or in lap during qualifying be aware of your surroundings on the track and try your best to stay off the racing line.
  • (Everyone) Have fun :)

Qualifying:

  • Make sure you are on the track, not in the pause menu and past the first sector prior to the race countdown starting. Qualifying times not registering tend to involve one of those factors.

I will send a message in game when qualifying is over and allow everyone around 30 seconds to grab a screenshot before starting the race countdown.

General:

  • Please be aware that starting with this race we will be using grid starts to try and prevent the auto-drive bug from manifesting itself. Be ready :)
  • BOP Settings will be frozen throughout the season.

Guess I better buy a Ferrari then :D

Awesome job as ever GHG!

EDIT: Also, could you just post the details of the pre-season race in here so I don't have to keep finding it in the generic thread?

Awesome work!

But I was only ever a replacement driver! I can't race this Sunday and I really can't commit to much. I got lucky last season so I was able to find the time to make many races but it looks like this season will be different! I am sorry!

Lol you went for Ferrari without testing it first?! Could be an interesting season :-)
Well, I wasn't going to spank half a million on something I might not use :D

Also, I tried it in the Monza circuit experience, a bit feisty, but much better than the Lambo. I'm just hoping that BoP and tyre wear doesn't crush my hopes!

OK, bought the thing and did my first 10 time trial laps in the car round Alsace with BoP and RSS tyres (tenth lap was a 1:53.2):

FmcDDJ2h.jpg

As I discovered on laps 2, 3 and 9, there's one part of the track it doesn't like (slowing down for the hairpin before the hill climb), but other than that it was pretty solid. It remains to be seen what it's like on worn tyres though!

EDIT: Oh, I meant to mention, I went back through the circuit experience for Alsace as I don't have much experience on the track. For me, they are one of the best things about GT Sport, if you watch the videos for each section, the advice really is spot on, not like the rubbish gear indicators you get while driving.

I love Alsace. My only bit of advice for someone who doesn't really need advice from the likes of me is to put some forward brake bias on the car (I found 2 to be a good compromise). It really helps to reduce the dramatic oversteer of the car at low speeds. The oversteer isn't as pronounced on Alsace due to the number of sweeping curves, but on other tracks you'll feel it. As for the tire wear, well... I'll be interested to see how you manage with it.

Haha, don't worry, all help gratefully received! I'd settled on two clicks forward when I was testing it on the Monza circuit experience, but only because that Tidgney video said to put forward bias on and 2 seemed like a reasonable number, I don't really know how to test for what the best bias is on cars.

Did you find the oversteer was when you are putting the power down at low speeds or just that it's unstable at low speed?

Yeah I'm not really knowledgeable on brake bias, I just did some laps and found that at 3 I started to lose the 458's tight steering, but at 1 there was still too much oversteer.

Lifting off the gas in a turn at low speed is a good recipe for it (the tight hairpin at Suzuka or the downhill hairpin at Maggiore are good examples). The brake bias helped quite a bit with that (also trail braking). I'd say in general that yeah, the 458 is a bit unstable at low speeds due to the torque it generates, which is manageable, but when tire wear sets in you have to really baby the throttle or risk a spin. PD's tire model is just not great so far, and a RWD, high torque car like the 458 gets the worst of it.

I'd guess the 458 is probably easier to drive with a wheel and pedals because it needs such precise throttle control. I always had trouble with that with the DS4's triggers.

No worries man, I'll open up your spot to other people if you want?

Sejanoz and prarts how are you guys looking based on the schedule in the OP? Can you make the "pre-season" test race on Sunday? If you can make it for half or more of the races in the schedule then it doesn't make much sense to move you off the list for now.

It's very similar to the Audi in that you always need to be doing something in terms of longitudinal inputs (throttle or braking). This is especially true once the tires start to go. Trail braking helps a lot. In fact, you will find yourself needing to trail brake in corners that you wouldn't ordinarily need to in other cars (that was the big thing that made me faster overall to reach DR A - learning how to trail brake effectively). If it's like the Audi, the car will also hate kerbs and you'll find yourself having to completely avoid them once the tires start to wear.

Test it in a custom arcade race with the tire wear settings that are in the OP one one of the tracks we will run. Do a full stint until you need to pit to see how you get on before making any conclusions.

I'm kinda torn on strategy on this one, as the McLaren was easy on tyres I'd always go for the minimum stops but it's not so clear cut with the Lexus. It looks like 3 stops on supersofts or 2 on mediums give very similar overall times but as the pit stop is short here (only around 20 seconds) I think I'm going to go for the 4 sprints.

My front left is completely red on supers by lap 6, is that what you guys are seeing?

Hey eyeball_kid you not tempted to take on the BMW this time around?

I'm available this Sunday. I'm gonna miss race 1 and 5 though (1st and 29th of April)

Unfortunately I can't make the preseason race, out to see John Bishop that night. I'm good for the rest of the season though. Best get practicing in that Jaguar unless Sejanoz fancies trying our luck with the Aston?
I tried the Jaguar Gr3 in a couple of one-make races and it handles really well. Not sure how competitive it is in the Gr3 group, but it can't be worse than the Lambo!
I don't know about the Gr4 version though. Thinking about it, I haven't tried many Gr4 cars...

EDIT: oh and yay for this new thread! Beautiful!

Yeah, open her up lol

So I'm now a Ferrari driver. My favourite manufacturer. Nice. Will be looking at testing today for tomorrows race.

Would love see a one-make racing league too, especially since the BMW M3 is coming. Different car and track combination each time but we can't use race-spec class cars, just normal road cars.

I'm not a fan of many of l the road cars handling in GTS maybe with racing tyres but otherwise I can't stand them. I like the one-make stuff though

Well there's 4 GT500 cars coming in the next update, we could have 4 teams of 4 drivers and the cars should be well balanced seeing as there's only 4 of them...

Yep provided they are good and well balanced then we can do a series with them next time round.

I'm really hoping for more Japanese tracks to go along with it. Fuji and Okoyama are musts.

Isn't the M6 fairly squirrelly? Not sure that's too tempting. ;)

I just haven't been able to allocate time lately in the first place, haven't even turned on my PS4 since the Nurburgring race.
Prarts has kinda disappeared so I think it's likely the GR4 Corvette up for grabs too... And Trolley can't make it tonight so there's the GR4 Jag so if you fancy firing up the PS4 and having a nice clean race then the option is there :-)

If prarts doesn't appear out of nowhere tonight then I'll probably have to open his spot up to be honest.

Well, tyre wear certainly changes the nature of the beast. Did a few laps this morning and RSS is an impossibility, I think my only chance of being consistent (never mind competitive) is to put on mediums, slow right down and tyre manage from start to finish, which is a fairly disappointing thing to say driving a Ferrari!

On the medium tyres I get get about a 1:58-1:59 average over a full tank. I have no idea if that is good or not, anyone got any Gr.3 times to compare?

My quickest lap in a GR4 with tyre wear is a 2:00 and the average is a 2:03... I think there was usually about 8-10 seconds difference in lap time between the classes so you're probably a bit on the slow side but time will tell. Are you going for 2 stops or 3?

Interesting, which tyre is that with though?

Going to try to do a two stopper and run the risk of worn tyres... It's odd how the online physics totally change the character of the car.

Fair enough fella.

I hope we get proper DTM cars too. That would be amazing.

I'll be managing a 3 stop strategy this evening using Racing Super Soft's. The tyre wear is more bearable than the Aston Martin GR4 but I still needed to take brake bias to +4 to even it all out.

That's mega quick fella. It's going to be tough to keep up that pace.

I didm manage a 1:59 but that was my very best lap. On average it looks like I'm about 1 or 2 second slower than you. Mighty challenge ahead.

I'm so far off the pace it's unbelievable. I've not done any practice though so that's on me. Glad I know there's a 7 lap stint in there coz that would likely have caught me out

Sorry for my absence and total radio silence guys but there are some crazy things going on in my life right now and free time is sparse.

Sad but I have to resing from our league altogether. I don't have a time to even plug my wheel in, not to mention practicing or racing so I'm giving my spot for someone who can commit and regularly participate. I can't as of now. Thanks for all our races, I will be watching your efforts still.
And special thanks to our game master GHG you rock man

This was before I found out it was the E30 M3. Could be awesome if the tyre compounds are not restricted!

Well I think it's either going to be 4 x 5 lap stints on supersofts (with the last one probably being a 4 lap) or you go long on mediums with 1 x 7 and 2 x 6. The Porsche is easier on its tyres than the Mustang so I think you'd need to go to mediums to make it that long. And it's a long race with lots of easy places to run out of road so I'd be surprised if any of us make it to the end without any cockups! I'm going for the 4 sprints on supersofts this time.

Interesting, which tyre is that with though?

Ah I've kind of answered that question above, but yeah the supers are quicker for the first 2 laps but then fade away worse than the mediums so over 6 laps the times were about the same. It's a short pitstop here tho and Ill need less fuel for the shorter runs so I think it'll balance out. Not sure about the online physics bit, you really feel there's a difference?

Yeah it's one thing just doing laps on your own, racing is another matter completely :-) We'll see how quick BradleyLove is in the GR4 viper too, I think we've all got very balanced cars so it's going to be close :-)

That's a mighty shame. Your were well equipped for this league. I mean, you were really, really fast.

Hope everything is OK and maybe you can return at some point.

Just messaged you on PSN, but sad to hear it.

There are now 2 slots available.

I hated that car in the end, whereas the gr3 with supersofts is an absolute wet dream :D

I hadn't raced that track in weeks, so I was all over the place at the beginning, mostly trying to stay out of everyone's way, definitely took a dive into the bushes to avoid a couple of gr4 tussles! Can I ask that we put the gr3/4 stickers on the back of cars again? There were a few racers I was hesitant to overtake because I didn't know if I'd be able to power past them or not.

Rutty, was it you I overtook on the last lap? Whoever it was I'm sorry about the nudge from behind, I wasn't expecting you to get perpendicular to the exit of that corner :D I'm guessing your tires were absolutely gone, there's no way I would have caught you otherwise .

Surprised that you didn't get on with the GR4 viper as it seemed pretty good in my tests but as GHG was saying it was a different track and maybe it just suited my style more.

The Lexus was very good, had one incident where I turned in on Moley on the first bend but I had no idea he was there, I think he'd just come out of the pits which is in a terrible place on that track.

Other than that it all went to plan. Not sure what happened to you cooldawn you were about 4.5 seconds behind after the first stint but after Rutty had passed me again you were about 19 seconds back. I think GHG likes his Mustang, Rutty not so much his 458!

So how do you guys feel about your new teams? Anyone going for a transfer?

Yeah, that was me, and yes I was absolutely babying it round :D

Good race everyone, was fun and I definitely learned about the capabilities of the Ferrari! After qualifying it became clear I was well off the pace so I gambled and went for a two stop with softs (originally I was going to go mediums). Had a couple of unpredictable reactions from the car early on leading to crashes in places I'd never crashed in practice. Then that stupid thing where you have to let the revs come all the way down or it won't engage the gear left me stranded for a while each time. The cherry on top was the race lasting 21 rather than 20 laps meaning that I nursed the third stint to 8 laps, if I hadn't guessed it would happen and done the penultimate lap at fuel 6 I'd have run out of fuel also...

Sorry cooldawn, I can't drive that car for six weeks, respect to those who had to drive it last season for persevering. I was expecting it to be difficult to drive, but I wasn't expecting it to be so comparatively slow as well. I could handle one or the other, but not both! It wouldn't be quite so bad if it wasn't so hard on the tyres meaning that you have to choose a harder compound than everyone else, that's what really kills it for me. I suspect it's to do with the weight that BoP applies, I actually had to spend mileage points to upgrade it enough to get to 109% :D

GHG do you have a list of manufacturers that are available for transfer?

In the OP mate under the teams in the spoiler :)

Good races tonight guys. Pm me any transfer requests. You only get one each (if you want to use it) so make sure you 100% want the manufacturer you go for.

We had a few tussles rutty, I'll be honest I couldn't tell if you were in a gr3 or just very fucking fast in a gr4, at points I'd be miles faster than you then at others we'd be pretty evenly matched (and I'm crap :D).
