(Rumor) 'Great Rune' is From Software new title [Open World, Norse mythology, GRR Martin, premiere at MS E3 Press Conference]

George RR Martin has apparently joined forced with FromSoftware, creators of the git gud Soulsborne collection of videogames like Bloodborne, Dark Souls, and Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. But don't assume it's going to be set in the world of Game of Thrones, as rumours have it that this game - titled Great Rune, supposedly - is set in the Norse world, exploring Norse mythology and all its dark legends.

Whisperings began circling on the internet in early 2019 and went into a lot more detail about what players can expect: you'll be invading kingdoms and stealing the powers of their rulers after a FromSoftware-style battle, which will then serve you well when you have to fight other kings. All I can say is that I hope Martin hasn't forgotten that he's also got the Game of Thrones book series to finish, as after that Game of Thrones ending there's a hell of a lot of things people are going to want to Martin write (and justify) in his own words…

Sounds abit like the Shadow of War open world.
I am curious about it and i like From Software. But its gonna be open world. Scared for that engine they use. And hopefully RR Martin has a big hand in the story. Not very confident about that also if FS does it.

Considering that gamesradar uses ResetEra as a source for their news and what they say in the article matches the fake 4chan leak, I wouldn't create a thread based on them.

Either I'm missing something in the article, or this doesn't seem to really confirm anything, as it's basically just reposting rumors from around the internet. The only actual source they cite is the Gematsu article also linked in the OP, which explicitly states that it's unconfirmed.

Even the article itself is full of words like "rumoured", "allegedly", and "supposedly" in almost every sentence.

Not saying it won't be true, but I don't see how this adds anything to the other rumors going around that have their own thread already.

Phil's trips are becoming pretty fruitful. I wonder though if this will be a Bandai joint or if it'll be published by Actvision. Wait and see. Watch it be Activision. I would totally guess they're funneling them money after Sekiro in order to maintain a better image. Which would be a good idea because everyone loves From Software games by default. Kind of like Nintendo games.

While I love their level layout and all, I'd be positively excited about their take on open-world games, if only because I think they could nail it.

Sekiro was great and that was signitificantly different, so I love them trying new stuff.

I don't think it's going to be Norse mythology but inspired by it, like all other Soulsborne games takes inspiration from other themes.

People talking about Norse like it's overdone, but in the AAA space there are barely any Norse mythology games save for God of War and the rumoured Assassin's Creed Kingdoms. What am I missing?
