Announced on stage during a 20th Anniversary reunion of all the cast (which is awesome too), Tim Schafer announced that Grim Fandango Remastered will be coming to the Switch.

There are not many other details yet like a date, but it's great to see Manny Calavera coming to the Switch.

Video in link. Announcement at 9:00.

Would've liked to see this in the Direct, but what are you gonna do?

Edit: Another Double Fine title, Broken Age, also coming to Switch!

I thought Sony funded these? So it was just timed exclusivity? Hope Full Throttle comes to PSN+ soon.

Did they ever fix this game? I remember playing the PS4 version and was super bummed out by the constant crashing.

It was even more annoying because the game doesn't have auto save, so I would lose anywhere from 20 mins - 1 hour of game time frequently.

It wouldn't have made a difference, moreso since for younger people it's seen as an indie game.
Oh ok now I wouldn't have liked it see it anymore?

Sure it's not going to move the needle much, but sticking it in the sizzle reel would've done no harm.

Awesome game, bought twice, back in 1998 and the remastered on Steam, worth every penny and probably the best game Tim Schafer has ever made.

Really hope one day Tim manages to develop and open world free roaming sequel. The world in Grim fandango is so fascinating yet so under discovered.

It's a great game despite having plenty of ludicrous guesswork and convoluted puzzles. The writing/dialogue/humour are all top notch. Utterly endearing and funny throughout.

Not sure if I'll buy it a second time though considering I've already got it downloaded on PS4 and PS Vita... though IIRC this may have been a PS+ game a while back so I may have never bought it once lol.

Weird, I thought Sony had put money into this. Good news though, all platforms could benefit from more classic LucasArts.

Perfect for Switch, since you can set it down while looking up the walkthrough on your PC for the game's frequently annoying puzzles.

Worth it for the story/ characters though.

Fuck yeah.

I sent a message to them on twitter last year asking for a switch version. They said they couldn't, since Sony helped fund it.

Looks like the contract is finished.

Won't buy it again but it's good to know that Double Fine is finally jumping on the Switch train.

This game will always have a very special place in my heart. I replayed it on my iOS devices, so go for it if you have any interest in adventure games!

Even if it does, Grim Fandango doesn't control like a traditional adventure game from the era. It controls far better on a controller.

Nah, when tobias pfaff modded mouse control in some years back I tried it and found it far superior to the tank controls, and Schafer decided to add it to the remake based on how good they were.

Doesn't make Grim's puzzles suck any less though. Really wished they lived up to the presentation/story.

In what way do they suck? Are they too cryptic, or too easy or suffer from poor mechanics or what?

Nice. It's a great game. I recently finished the remaster on PC, though. Not buying it again, but cool stuff for people who haven't played it yet. It's one of those "perfect for Switch" games.

It's just a lot of guessing from what I remember. It's been a couple of years since I played but it's like show this item to this guy (when you have several items and several people to interact between once you get to the first main area) in order to get another item, which you then combine with another item in order to make some actual progress in an area quite far away.

If you have a guide it's no big deal and I do recommend it because yeah you'll just be doing a lot of guessing otherwise.

Ah, so it's trial and error, basically? That's poor design.

This is good, but I'd rather have Monskey Island. But that's probably not coming to newer hardware. I'd absolutely love portable Monkey Island. Playing DoTT and Grim Fandango on Vita was nice, a shame Monkey Island was a no show. It's by far my favorite point-and-click.

Pretty much. And it's magnified in Grim because a few puzzles are contextual to where you're standing, so it's possible you may do the right thing but not in the right place.

Grim's like Full Throttle in that I'm willing to bear with the bad puzzles because I really like the world.

Grim is amazing and the puzzles are from another era. It's not like other adventure games where you end up combining everything you have for hours, it's, ehm, different. And yes, prepare to get stuck rather quickly :D
