Ephemeral Fantasia for PS2 had some pretty cringe-worthy dialogue. Could well have been made by 15 year olds, not just for them.

"I want to undo all the wrongs I have done...
I want to return to the womb."

What followed was possibly one of the most disturbing things I have ever seen.

"I got a lady boner harder than steel for the stuff" - EO4

It was already a rather a weird and semi-vulgar line but the context of a generally wholesome medieval fantasy RPG just made me double take.

when the twins die in duke nukem forever it's not funny, just gross and misoyngistic (but spelled correctly)

Yeah, if I recall all they had him say was "You're... fucked." (because they had been impregnated with violently birthed alien offspring ha-ha)

It was just awful in all directions. Peak Gearbox edgy writing. God DNF was rotten. I say this as someone who still loves Duke 3D.

There's this fine gentleman from Assault on Dark Athena, which I am playing now. Unpleasant to say the least

It's a relatively small thing compared to some of the examples here, but early on in Tales of Hearts R the main character stops a guy from harassing a woman and then says this to her

This cutesy misogyny just made me groan and I basically turned the game off there and then. Was just surprising to see it in Tales game, I guess, the ones I've played besides this one are relatively fine

Atelier Ayesha:

Tomboyish friend trying on dress: "You really think so? I don't know if it feels like me..."

Ayesha: "Just change the way you act on the outside and soon you'll feel that way on the inside. All girls are like that."

I actually don't think there's been a Tales of without some sort of misogyny, intentioned or not. I think it was surprising because he was the MC and not a party member, and MCs are usually a lot better on that point.

From Illbleed on Dreamcast. The idea of worm farmers, is uh, not exactly a pleasant one.

Not so much gross, but I felt a bit sick hearing it the first time.

Ace Combat Zero

Inferno is a mission which basically is similar to the bombing of Dresden. Player escorts bombers as they (The bombers) bomb a civilian city. (Hoffnung, targeting "Weapons factories", but priority is destruction over accuracy) The "Horrors of war" are in full effect here as the city is quite literally saturation bombed, cruise missiles hit buildings, + the enemy soldiers there set fire to the buildings as they leave in scorched earth tactics. To progress the player has to attack military targets, enemy fighters, AA guns and SAM sites, APCs, etc.

If the player is feeling particularly cruel or doing a mercenary run (Could be compared to Undertale's genocide route) they can attack all the yellow (civilian/non-combatant) targets, which include fuel tanks, factories, a C-130 implied to be carrying wounded troops, medivac choppers, ambulances, tents, etc.

The game pulls no punches, shortly after you start dropping bombs or shooting missiles on the industrial sector you hear a factory worker shout "A BOMB HAS JUST HIT SECTOR C! IT'S GONNA SET OFF THE FUEL! *explosion and sounds of flames* HRURAAAAAAA-*cut to static for a few seconds before the transmission ends*"

I felt a bit sick the first time I heard that during a mercenary run (My first playthrough) especially because I realized throughout the campaign I was typically attacking yellow targets whenever possible (Windmills, damaged enemy aircraft.) for extra points, and not really thinking about what was going on lore-wise, (I was blowing up civilians and stuff just because I'd get paid) and I found hearing the guy screaming as he gets blown to smithereens super jarring and unnerving.
