Most of them aren't professional performance artists. They're just leaning in to how goofy the furry fandom is as an inherent concept and not giving a damn. The fact that non-furries still don't get that we're in on the joke and remain judgemental in light of other fandoms much bigger slights is, in effect, the real hilarity.
well, that's true to but some of those seem comfortably outgoing and id imagine they know that part of them is good for things like standup and niche stage roles. I mean why not make money from what you love.
Because breaking into acting is extremely hard even if you don't have a gimmick like "fursuiter." Most of these people also have other careers. The green hyena in the beginning is a botanist, for example. This isn't career-worthy. It's for Internet larks and a couple of weekends a year being a dumbass.
I will say though, as a related tangent: Voice actor Rob Paulsen went to a con in Pittsburgh and said "Oh, you guys are just big cartoon characters." Imagine nearly all of ERA getting outsmarted by a fucking boomer.
