The prevalence of this problem is dwarfed by the prevalence of cheaters/hackers in online gaming, to the point where it approaches near zero significance.Hardware bans are bad because it means getting second hand parts could get you banned for no reasons
Can happen with consoles too, why jailbroken/hacked consoles are usually kept offline until workarounds are found, as it'll get banned.
Why isn't hardware ID banning more of a thing? Or at least it doesn't seem like it is.
Respawn banning Apex players for cheating on console doesn't happen because there's no way to hack a console and play online with it.
What kind of receipts are you getting from secondhand purchases that validates it isn't the same person? As long as the companies have tools in place to unban people who buy second hand(And can provide a receipt) I'm all for HWID bans.
However I'd wonder how hard this actually is to get reversed and if the CS teams are up for the task.
Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at, lol.
No yeah I was agreeing with you, I should have said good justification haha. I'm the same way, if you wanna cheat and fuck up someone else's time, then ya get what's coming to you. Completely agreed for sure. I remember back in the days of Modern Warfare 2, .....the skywalking tubers man lol. Woulda killed to see some bans dulled out back in those days ;).Yeah, that's kind of what I was getting at, lol.
I just really dislike these people that cheat in multiplayer games so part of me is like "Serves you right, butt-face!"
Motherboard maybe. I don't think a GPU/CPU would do it. But yeah I guess.hardware ID banned? so if you purchased a used cpu/gpu/mobo/whatever, you could potentially be barred from certain games? 🤔
It's not a cottage industry it's a fully fledged million (approaching billion) dollar industry.I am always amazed at the cottage industry ofonline cheat programs
A battlepass for hacks? Damn the game has changedIt's not a cottage industry it's a fully fledged million (approaching billion) dollar industry.
People are hacking games on subscription or hack/battle pass
Can't you use mouse and keyboard?Respawn banning Apex players for cheating on console doesn't happen because there's no way to hack a console and play online with it.
With expensive adapters, yes. Never heard about someone getting banned for it though.
I guess that's why I don't feel bad about it. I mean these people are actively making the experience worse for everyone else, unless I guess they start hacking too just to keep up.No yeah I was agreeing with you, I should have said good justification haha. Hmm.. could that lead to someone buying a used "banned" component..? :/Haha. People who cheat at online games are pathetic.
Especially when they spend real money on it.
These posts are from hacking communities.I'm surprised they owned up to it. I expected something along the lines of "help, I got banned and didn't do anything wrong".
Eh it was maddening enough on 360The prevalence of this problem is dwarfed by the prevalence of cheaters/hackers in online gaming, to the point where it approaches near zero significance.
Yeah I just can't understand what's so rewarding about it. I'm sure they think it's funny at first but after weeks of it?I don't even understand why you would want to win constantly with cheating, the best matches are when its neck and neck.
such dickheads, got what they deserved.
It is definitely a thing for free-to-play games, but there are two issues concerning it in general: (1) hardware ID spoofing, and (2) that it limits repeat-sales of a game and/or its in-game purchases. People who can afford to cheat can likely afford to (and will) spend money on the game--if not once, several times. Why isn't hardware ID banning more of a thing? Or at least it doesn't seem like it is.
It's funnier when people use unfair advantages and still lose.
hardware ID banned? so if you purchased a used cpu/gpu/mobo/whatever, you could potentially be barred from certain games? 🤔
Well most hardware bans are suspected to be based around the combination of specific parts and MOBO to give you a unique kind of signiture, or close to one. Which probably helps to avoid false positives when a hacker sells their parts. But I'm no expert and Blizz/EA/Game companies haven't disclosed their methods.Hardware bans are bad because it means getting second hand parts could get you banned for no reasons
If you buy a banned piece of computer hardware or console you were scammed and there are often remedies available to you that aren't 'don't ban cheaters.'
Where did anyone say "don't ban the cheaters"?If you buy a banned piece of computer hardware or console you were scammed and there are often remedies available to you that aren't 'don't ban cheaters.'
From what I understand/think. It's a control/power thing. I'm not equating it to rape. But the reasons can be similar.Yeah I just can't understand what's so rewarding about it. I'm sure they think it's funny at first but after weeks of it?
I figured it was implied when you effectively said 'thing bad'Where did anyone say "don't ban the cheaters"?
Don't put words into people's mouth if you have no arguments to make.
Buying banned consoles was a plague back in the 360 days and more often than not you had little recourses against the seller, even reputable ones.
