Crazy that it took this long for some form of Halo media proper to finally get off the ground.

Edit: Yes I know about the various animated projects and short films before anyone tries to inform me.

Do we know if its a re telling of the first game basically? With flashbacks from before the covenant war and reach. Also i wonder if they are going to try to adapt the plots of each game into a season. I just hope this doesnt end up looking cheap

It is not.

From everything we know it's a new story set sometime during the war.

I'm from the UK and I'm not exactly sure of Showtime's output but they have said it's the biggest and most expensive TV programme they have ever made. It can't look cheap, it just can't.....

I'm so excited for this. I hope it's good. It's crazy this was announced before this generation started, and probably won't be on the air until after it ends.

Obviously, I'm still very curious about this. It seems they have quite the partner with Showtime, so that's good.

Hopefully, it really ends up being their most ambitious series, yet, like the CEO said.

I remember when they announced a Halo tv show all the way back at Xbox One's reveal.

Exciting. Can't wait to see what it looks like and if the look translates across the board, whehter they've reimagined it to fit or not. The cast is solid.

Guessing we won't be seeing it anytime soon, like late next year at best ?

Some more info on the new people on the cast and what roles. Murphy her role is intresting. Raised by the Covenant.

"Danny Sapani, Olive Gray, and Charlie Murphy have all joined the show, which is based on the video game franchise of the same name and is set to begin production this month in Budapest. They join previously announced series lead Pablo Schrieber, who will play the Master Chief, as well as Natascha McElhone, Bokeem Woodbine, Shabana Azmi, Bentley Kalu, Natasha Culzac, and Kate Kennedy. The series is currently scheduled to air in the first quarter of 2021.

Sapani will play Captain Jacob Keyes, described a dedicated military man, a war hero and a caring father. He finds that working alongside his daughter and his ex-wife is usually the cause of conflict rather than comfort. Sapani's television credits include shows like "Harlots," "The Crown," "Doctor Who," and "The Bastard Executioner." His film credits include "Black Panther," "Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi," and "The Siege of Jadotville."

Gray will play Dr. Miranda Keyes, a brilliant UNSC Commander who is dedicated to understanding the technology, language and culture of the Covenant, but she'll have to learn to navigate the politics of the UNSC to get what she wants. In addition to the BBC's "Half Moon Investigations," Gray has appeared in "Sex Education," "Fleabag," "EastEnders," "Dark Money," "Pure," and "The Story of Tracy Beaker."

Murphy will play Makee, an orphaned human who was raised by the alien Covenant and shares their contempt for humanity. In addition to her role as Jessie Eden on "Peaky Blinders," Murphy's screen credits include "Walk Invisible: The Brontë Sisters," "Happy Valley," "The Last Kingdom," "Misfits," and "Ripper Street."

So this show isn't canon then.

Gonna hazard a guess that the four at the back-right will be Spartans, given their height. Maybe the four members of Blue Team (I know the second guy there is playing the Chief)?

I'm happy for it to be a bit of different interpretation. Kinda like ASoIaF and GoT are different things in my head, so will this and the games be.

I'm... mixed. On one hand it means I don't need to worry about them butchering the established canon. But on the other hand I was actually hoping to see stuff that could come back later in future games/books.

I wonder if Miranda is still Halsey's daughter.

UNSC / Covenant Cold War? That's a big retconn.

Probably works better for TV though if not everything has to be shoot bang.

Maybe they're just making Halo: The Expanse?
