Has this always been a thing? Foreigners worshiping Trump on social media?

I'm not really all that in to social media, but I happened to take a peak today due to the whole impeachment thing....

I've notice a lot of non Americans chiming in saying things like "4 MORE YEARS BOSSS. YOURE A GREAT PRESIDENT" (I'm not sure if linking to their Twitter is allowed or else I would to show examples). But yea, I see this in every post on Twitter from Trump?

Like, what the fuck? This chick was from Poland and she's wearing a MAGA hat? Like, holy shit, scoob?!

On discord, people are just casually throwing out "maga" memes.... even when the conversation isn't really relevant to what people are talking about..... AND THEY ARE SOUTH EAST ASIAN. Like, CURRENTLY they are live from South East Asia. Again, like, what the fuck??? I almost feel like they are children repeating curse words that one time because their parents said it once. I say this because some of these people can barely speak English. They coincidentally can completely (and clearly) utter Trump memes (like "we're gonna build a wall"). That's when their English gets extremely accurate.

(To clarify, I'm not making fun of non-native English speakers. I am surprised that they can only speak well enough when worshiping Trump).

TLDR; I guess what I'm saying is that I don't see how it benefits them to worship Trump like this. To say "Make America Great Again" means to put your own country second. What tactical reason would there be for you to do this? Please help me understand.

I live in SEA and have never seen anyone talk about Trump, let alone love him. There’s weirdos all over the world, my dude.

Lots of Aussie boomers like Trump. The younger generations overall despise him though.

I don't know why it's surprising random non-Americans would be Trump fans. There are idiots and bigots everywhere. Just ignore them

Heaps of trump boot lickers in Australia, pretty sad really. Used to be that guy trying to convince friends and family they are wrong, i was naive in thinking I could change people’s minds.

Step dad was whinging about climate change and the greens the other day, I just laughed at him and walked away.

Yep, this is where I'm at these days. I've tried to change my family and friends minds and get them to vote for Labour or Greens rather than The Nationals (or to a lesser extent Shooters, Fisher and Farmers/One Nation/Liberals) but it just ends up with me getting wildly depressed and sad, so I just walk away from shitty political discussion these days, for my own mental health.

Idk about SEA, but Trump and that red hat is a white supremacist calling card and attracts all that filth.

Depending on the country, some feel like Trump makes the better policy for them than Obama. But as always with Trump, it can backfire all the time. South Korea for example was pro Trump prior to his price increase for the troops.

I'm in fucking Canada and I know people that are devote Trumpers. It's ridiculous.
Yeah, reading canadian newspapers articles about anything related to Trump, and nearly half the comments will somehow defend Trump or shit on democrats. Seems like even canadian conservatives will blindly defend their american counterparts just because "fuck liberals".

In the caucasian world they're probably fellow travelers. Ironically the alt-right has an internationalist component to it.

The ones that aren't white are probably like the white kids you know or knew ironically (hopefully...) posting Mao memes at one point or another.

His approval ratings are dirt in every country except Russia, Israel, and a few of the highly-evangelical African countries.

I mean, I've even seen other Mexicans on social media praising Trump. Idiots that think they're the "good ones". Granted it's very few because most of us despise him. I feel like most of these types of people are mostly just praising him because they see him as the prime example of the alt right government they wish they had at home, aka anti immigrant, anti LGBTI, anti women, which is disgusting.

Italian here. I've seen some of my countrymen openly supporting him on Italian social media. They are of course the same people supporting Salvini - they probably see Trump (and Johnson and Orban for that matter) as one of the heroes we need to fight against the bad establishment, the "gender theory" and the Kalergy Plan, just like Salvini.

Sad times indeed.

There are also people posting alt-right memes because "they are cool", without a real political agenda.

Someone in India did refer to him as a god and I think I remember people idolizing him in China. I don't know, I think there are a lot of dumb people in this world that like the idea of a strong man even if he's immoral, dumb and not strong at all. It's scary to think about.

Not for nothing but your example, a Polish person, Poland is...very right-wing right now. They have their own issues like saying they have various LGBT-free zones..

Seems like it. I don't follow any one group, but this defending politicians like they are your best friend or family is asinine to me. Showed someone (a 50+ Canadian) that "Trumps pays $2 million to 8 Charities for Misuse of Foundation" article and, I shit you not, they responded with "At least he paid it back" and started going on about the Clintons. No longer talk to that person now, and.. amusingly enough it wasn't my choice. lol

Yeah, lots of people here in Aus are very pro-Trump. Agreed that most of the younger gens despise him but I've met quite a few that support him as well, especially when I was at TAFE.
Same in uni but most of them are meme edgelords or live questionable lifestyles. Also usually crank that “sjw” shit before making sexist or ignorant comments that leave them with few friends lol.

My brother's GF is a black woman from Guyana and the only thing she wanted to do in Chicago is take a picture in front of the trump tower :/

I think some of it has to do with him being an international celebrity, otherwise in this case I don't get it.

I don't doubt that there are some people who support him and his views, but I'd take social media posts with a grain of salt because they are often bots. A lot of driveby posts that shoot down news stories or play up alt-right ideals are just bot spam.

You can see a lot of this sort of thing in basically any political thread on Reddit. Lots of randoms just drop some driveby shit stirring post like "lol people really believe this stuff? lol how typical" and then disappearing. It doesn't help that some actual people do basically the same thing.

My girlfriend is from Nigeria, she tells me almost everyone from there is pro-Trump. They believe he is a man of God and can do no wrong, even though they have no reason to be for or against him.

Are you telling me you believe bots are real people?

The fascist, neo nazi alt-right movement has a presence everywhere. Bolsonaro won because of that.

Here in Chile we have a republican party, and yes, they spill the same braindead offensive shit that they do in US.

This has always been a thing since a huge swath of Asia and SouthEast Asia are conservative, and every news network on TV spews far-right news and propaganda on a daily basis.

This is the sad reality of things on the other side of the world.

I'm sure, in addition to the usual alt-right shitheads, there are a shit ton of bots and astroturfers out there gearing up for the election. It's only going to get worse before it gets better.
