I think when you combine this with Disney+ together, that combination will muscle out Netflix assuming people are willing to pay the price that it costs to have both. That combo is a hell of a lot of content that will appeal to a family. It's really going to be interesting to see how Netflix losing a lot of content will expose if their own content is good enough to stand on its own or not. I'm thinking it's not in the long run.
This is by far the best service in terms of amount of good content. Like it's not even close.
HBO Max has far more appeal to a larger demographic. At&T already have 10m people willing to pay that much just for HBO.
If Doom Patrol is making the jump to HBO Max, I'd imagine that Titans will soon follow.
Yeah, it doesn't help that all their hit shows are already ended or ending. They need something like The Witcher to really hit it big... But will it?
It's the current price for HBO except it's way more than just HBO. And there's no ads. It's a great deal imo. And a cheaper ad supported version is coming later too. As it stands it's barely more expensive than Netflix.
We need to get this picture in the OP so people won't think that the service is just HBO and nothing more.Yes.

Important to note, we don't yet have a full list of what exactly will be on the service day one, and likely won't until much closer to the launch date in May. But it's safe to say most things from under these various brands will be there.
To think, the combined effort of Disney+ & HBO Max will be what deals a major blow to Netflix.
I see. Though another thing I noticed is that Toonami is mentioned, meaning that JoJo & One Punch Man will likely be on HBO Max. Will Netflix lose JoJo & One Punch Man as well (seeing as it already has Parts 1 & 2 of JoJo for both sub & dub as well as the sub of Season 1 for OPM)?
The answer is: It's complicated. The only content funnel they wholly own is AT&T so that's guaranteed for now. Everybody else, they're in active discussions to include.

All of the current and upcoming HBO shows like the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, Lovecraft Country, The Gilded Age, etc. + new originals just for MAX, yes, including Tokyo Vice directed by Michael Mann, a DUNE spin-off series from Villeneuve, a Green Lantern series, a Gremlins animated series, and more.
NBCUniversal also has Peacock incoming though it is kind of half-assed compared to Disney Plus and HBO Max, less marketing, less old content, less new content, less exclusivity, and ad-supported. At the moment Comcast is hesitant to put all their chips in like Disney and AT&T are doing because licensing out their library is safer than hoarding back all their content onto its own service, but if their 2 biggest rivals succeed they will be to follow their lead. If that happens Netflix will only have Paramount and Sony media to buy among the majors.
