Hideki Naganuma makes concerning tweet: 'Finally, I found my girlfriend on Twitter. But She's a teenager'

So I think at this point this deserves its own thread.

Hideki Naganuma, composer on Jet Set Radio, etc. has been enjoying popularity on Twitter for a seemingly-exaggerated 'horny' persona. His jokes about liking young girls (if they are jokes at all) have perhaps gone a little too far now though. Today's tweets:



He then follows this up with a reference to Charlie Chaplin, who was a pedophile (he married two underage girls during his lifetime). Is this meant as a joke punchline or a dogwhistle?



I've been concerned seeing his tweet interactions with young female fans before and was on the verge of unfollowing him myself. I hope Toni Codrea doesn't mind me reposting their tweet in here - I can confirm what they've screengrabbed is current if you go look at Naganuma's profile.

So back around the time he was first getting his meme following, I sent him a friend request on Facebook as a joke thinking he'd never accept it but he quickly did within a day. At the time my avatar was me in super goth makeup and looking all pretty, and after seeing that linked Tweet about who he's following I suddenly know exactly why he accepted my friend request and now I feel kinda grossed out.

Other than that all I have to say, I basically said in the other thread. I feel so deflated, him making a major slip up like this felt so inevitable after a certain point of his shitposting habits.

Hideki basically turned out to be a huge milkshake duck. His music was amazing to me and was basically a huge part of why I decided I wanted music to be a major part in all my game projects. A lot of the music I listen to is Jet Set Radio inspired or adjacent to it. When he started posting about Family Guy, it was a funny novelty here and there, but when he just became "that funny guy from Japan who loves Family Guy" and he started gaining a lot of followers from people who don't even care about his music, it got kinda annoying seeing him become this big meme while nobody actually discussed his music. I at least felt happy that in a way, his audience was technically growing, but as the ironic obsession with Family Guy led way to him shitposting about Pepe I just got so annoyed by all the memes I had to unfollow because it was like he was a completely different person. I checked on his Twitter again a handful of days ago and straight up saw pornographic Family Guy cosplay images and groaned at how far he had fallen. Horny this, Lois that, rinse and repeat. Looking at this thread and seeing him straight up acting like a pedophile has made me so distraught and annoyed and I'm glad I unfollowed. I had the feeling it was only a matter of time before he mad a major slip. At the point of where I'm removing him from my Spotify rotation. He's dead to me.
