I never said it was normal or somehow not creepy, of course it's fucking creepy.
I'm learning more and more lately that to some people, using words outside their dictionary definition breaks their brain and they have to correct it. I have a friend like that and he makes a big deal about everything and often looks like he defends pedophiles and rapists because he gets into the "well technically" thing. He is legit a good dude but it just triggers something in him and he can't not correct people.
Not saying everyone who does that is like him, just some people really really care about words.
Don't worry, as others have pointed out, if they wait until she's 18 before marriage that makes it a-ok.

Arguing the age of consent really, truly, is missing the point.
What a lot of people don't realize is like, if someone is going after girls or dating girls right past the age of consent, things usually started before that and the girls were groomed.

The help that pedophiles need should not be a taboo subject. Pedophilia is a mental illness. Just because it makes you feel icky and gross does not mean we should not be reaching out to help these individuals. Pedophilia is also not necessarily the same as sexual abusers. There are tons of sexual abusers who are not pedophiles, and vice versa.
As someone who feels strongly about criminal reform and mental health care it bothers me that people pick and choose who they are OK with treating humanely. Especially when it comes to mental health.

I was groomed and abused by predators online starting at age 13. By the time I turned 18, I was still in high school and was still interacting regularly with my abusers, who had abused me for the previous 5 years of my life. But suddenly because I turned 18 it wasn't abuse anymore? Fuck off with that shit.
Large gaps in age, especially when the person is 18-20, are almost always extremely predatory due to the vast gulf in maturity, societal power and influence, and life experience. It may not be illegal but it's still wrong and most relationships like that are still taking advantage of the younger, more vulnerable party. It's fucking gross and harmful and I don't understand why defending that shit here is considered OK.

Yeah, history is a really fascinating subject when it comes to legal practices. That's why I'm just curious about all of this.
