Now that Death Stranding has released onto PS4, Hideo Kojima is on to the next project. What this project could be, who knows. In fact, we probably won't know for awhile. However, Kojima has recently confirmed he still wants to make a horror game, and it looks like he's already preparing for when he inevitably does. Taking to Twitter, Kojima revealed how he's preparing to make "the scariest horror game," and it involves watching lots of horror movies.

"As to make the scariest horror game, I’ll watch the scary movies in order to awaken my horror soul," writes Kojima. "The Eye is the Thai horror movie I rent when making PT, but was too scary to finish watching. The package is scary so I rented the disc only. Will I be able to finish watching?

That said, it's obvious The Eye was an inspiration for PT, and it sounds like it could once again be an influence on whatever horror game Kojima inevitable makes.

As mentioned above, Kojima recently confirmed he wants to return to the horror genre. He doesn't know when this return will happen, but he does already have ideas on what he might do.

"I want to do a horror game one day, yes of course. I have some new ideas that I think kind of get out there. But I don't know when. I'll have to think about when I bring this out," said Kojima while speaking to Rocket Beans Gaming. "Horror, when it comes to movies...You can kind of close your eyes watching a really fearful thing. Games are different than movies. If you close your eyes in a movie you can make it go away and the movie continues, but in games, it's interactive. You have to move forward yourself."

For now, we are going to have patiently wait and see what Kojima does next. Personally, I'm hoping it's a return to the horror genre, but at this point, he'll have my attention no matter what he does.

I will just leave that question/answer here:

Geoff Keighley Can you please answer me with a gif whether Kojima san will start creating Silent Hills after Death Stranding?

I’m just a few hours into Death Stranding so I can’t comment too much...but I would be extremely excited for a new AAA horror game

Well, I guess it could be interesting but he really needs to give it a different approach from Death Stranding.

I support this, but hell no am I going to buy or play it lol.

Couldn't even watch a full playthrough of PT.

Might not be too bad if it's no first person....

PT was probably the best horror experience of this gen so i cant wait for Kojima to go full horror.

Junji Ito is probably involved too.

I won't be surprised if Geoff Keighley will have another The Phantom pain cryptic trailer for this TGA that will make us wonder who is doing such game (obviously Kojima).

Here's hoping that he rehires whoever made PT work because the spooky elements of Death Stranding were super ineffective.
And a real writer, because his dialogue would inevitably turn it into a comedy.

Makes sense. Death Stranding is Kojima given free reign to do whatever the fuck he wants. Now he follows it up with something publishers know there's an audience for, then probably repeat.

This is good. While Death Stranding doesn't seem to be my think, having atmosphere and walking around and having immersion in that without emphasis on combat works well with the horror genre since stuff like Silent Hill Shattered Memories worked out pretty well with just running away. I always wanted Silent Hills over Death Stranding so I'm happy to hear he might be trying to go back to that.

Is Team Silent disbanded? They should join KojiPro and collaborate.

Kojima is pretty good at unsettling babble / paranoid dialogue imo. If he can resist being too clear about things (basically be as murky and oblique as PT), then he's well-suited for the job.
Gotta assume it's Sony again

Team Silent is Team Siren right? They're still with Sony? Or am I mixing things up?
The head of Team Siren (a part of Japan Studio who made Siren and Gravity Rush) is the writer/director of the original Silent Hill (Keiichiro Toyama), but Team Silent was a team inside Konami that isn't a thing anymore.
