Peggy isn't wrong about music journalism and how sometimes reviews can read as vindictive rather than actual criticism. The Hobo Johnson review comes off as a series of teardowns rather than critique intended to improve.
But, just because you put your heart and soul into something doesn't mean the world is obligated to reward you for doing so. It sucks and it hurts to try and put out something you think is good only to be met with a tepid reaction, but its my belief that good criticism helps you become better. I'm lowkey annoyed at all these celebrities acting like complete tools just because of something someone wrote (Lizzo, Ariana, Michael Che).

RAM is also a distinct type of chintz that doesn't really lend itself to modern trends in the years that have ensued since it was released. it's a very deliberate choice but i think as a result it'll be a while til it gets looked back on reverentially. weird album
