I imagine the number is so that it can be called HITMAN 2, probably to abbreviate as HITMAN Season Two.
Now, I do wonder how the game will unfold. I quite liked the model of a new area every month, and don't mind that again.
Marketing it as it's entirely own thing is smart, I think. "Season 2" kind of implies smaller-scale and less content, as if it's just one part of a bigger game.
Wonder what changes they'll have made for it to be a different enough game to warrant it being called Hitman 2 rather than Season 2 or an expansion to the first.
It's just the first game's logo with a 2.
This makes me thing that we might get the full package this time.
Wonder if they're dropping the episodic stuff. I could care less if they did, since I'm not gonna play until all the episodes are out anyways.

Man, good for IO. I don't think anyone thought prior to release of the first one that people would actively want future titles to be episodic.
That's because it's a transparent white pic and you're in light mode.
Also, seeing as one place called the project Hitman 2, it also likely is correct on the release window. Link's down, but it claimed this was the name of the game, and would be out in November.

At some point game companies have to realise that playing coy about their games only amplifies the chance of unintentional/intentional leaks ten-fold.
But still, can't wait to see more of this. The first game had its fair share of problems but it was amazing nonetheless, and unless they try and simplify the core of the game itself I can't see this being anything but an improvement.
