Is there some intended way to get this elusive target away from all the guards and guns he's stationed at? It seemed like his personal guard needed a key to progress things, but I looked everywhere and couldn't find one. Maybe I was reading too much into the dialogue and that doesn't actually happen?

I eventually gave up and just headshot him from far away, settling for a non-SA kill. I was just curious though what I was missing.

You can set off a lockdown by blowing something up. He'll still be guarded, but once you know where he's moved to, you can prepare to take them out or prepare an accident.

The easiest way to get rid of them is to drop 'illegal' items (i.e guns, explosives) on the ground, at which point they'll feel the absolute need to pick them up and move them to a safebox. Dropping guns in the path of guards is a core gameplay mechanic :-p

In other news...

Roadmap is up, let's go!

I can't wait to try out the resort. Hoping the three targets means it's on the bigger side!

The best settings are the fantasy vacation ones so I'm so down for this.

New map hype. Almost to the end of the season pass content once the final assignments are out.

I realized earlier than nothing ever came of that Batman tease in one of the trailers right before launch. They showed batarangs briefly but there's been no challenge pack or anything with them. Unless that's still to come or the rights situation got messy.

I'm curious how the emetic grenade will work. If you hit 6 NPCs at once will they line up for the same toilet? All crowd around and use it at once? Scatter around the map to find different cans and toilets? Seems weird.

Wow. New map already? Hyped!

The latter, from experience. The AI will instantly pick a location and reserve it (one by one), which basically means everyone will scatter. I think in some cases they will go to the same place anyway, which can be weird, or maybe even throw up on the spot, but in general it should cause a scatter, which has some really interesting implications.

It looks like they forgot there were some Elusive Targets in Bangkok, let's redo Paris and Marrakesh for the 3rd time...
Since December, 5 new Elusive Targets (The Undying twice) and 11 Legacy ones, how are they going to do with Hitman 3?

The lack of new elusive targets has been pretty disappointing. I haven't done most of the Legacy ones because I've already done them before in the first game. It's especially a shame because they started really strong with The Undying which had a lot more work than most elusives in the first game and then the later new ones have sort of been whatever. I think the Hitman team is smaller now than it was during the first game so it's probably the most they can actually do while also working on new maps. Maybe post Resort they'll do more elusives, though who knows what the support will be like once the year roadmap runs out.

They've already said there will only be legacy elusives until all the maps are out, no reason to be disappointed every week..

Lmao, I just did the Gunrunner and it took me 45 minutes to get SA since I had to just take out his entire 10-person entourage one at a time with the radio and then multiple coins.

I'm sure there's an easier way to do it but after a few I was too stubborn to stop.

On the stream they said they're going to bring the season one challenge packs to Hitman 2. I presume they'll also bring the escalations too.

I did the same thing until he was the one going to the radio and I poisoned him with syringe.

Just unlocked the Emetic Grenade in "The Merle Relevation" escalation out today. Very small AoE, but situationally useful I guess. Excited for next week.

Ive been trying to get all the trophies on the Legacy maps even though I got them all already in the original Hitman 1, so I'm kind of enjoying these weapons that break things and make it faster lol

This map is super cool. It feels huge (not sure if it actually is or just feels), has a lot of hidden paths and shortcuts, looks absolutely gorgeous and I feel like there's a lot of hidden stuff on this map. First runthrough took me little over an hour. After ~45 minutes the colors started to fade and I thought something was wrong, but

as I went outside I saw the sky turning grey and a I started hearing thunder. It was a really cool moment.

It's way too early to say after just a single playthrough, but this could easily become one of my favorite maps. There's also a tease at the end for (probably) Hitman 3.

I posted these in the other thread; this is a beautiful map, and I've barely scratched the surface.

Very, very cool finale destination. They knew exactly what they were doing having you run into Ljudmila immediately upon arrival.

Following the Ljudmila quest down to the basements, I overheard the tech geeks mentioned that a total system failure would summon all three targets to deal with it. When they did, I was ready and waiting to dump some killing poison into the ventilation system and take off in their seaplane. I probably poisoned ten of their bodyguards in the process, so no Silent Assassin on that run :P

Then I reloaded and followed the Ljudmila stuff to completion, which was a brilliant multi-step spy fantasy. The USB stick is the Maltese Falcon of that map, lol. I was getting Hokkaido vibes from the map before release, so I loved having Jason Portman back to torment all over again.

And that storm...unbelievable. It suggests some very cool possibilities for dynamic level changes in Hitman 3 (of course I'd settle for more day/night level reskins, tbh.)

Let's see some Elusives and Escalations here, IOI!

edit: Any guesses as to what Ljudmila's necklace depicts?

The Onion: Hitman 2's New Tropical Resort DLC Lets You Quit Being An Assassin And Become An Ornithologist For The Remainder Of The Game
Rv5G8Bl.jpg

About 45 minutes into Hitman 2's new "Haven Island" DLC, players are faced with a choice that not only changes the rest of the downloadable level but the course of the series itself: Will you continue on in your mission to kill an affluent kingpin while sneaking through the Maldive resort's tropical forests? Or will you quit being an assassin, steal the identity of a field ornithologist, and embark on a tenured academic career studying the mating rituals of long-tailed scarlet macaws?

It's decisions like this that have always made the Hitman series great, and this outing is the most ambitious one yet.

Here's how it works: After using your trusty piano wire to kill an ornithologist and swap into his cargo shorts and binoculars, all you have to do is press X to toss aside your silenced pistol, point out the nest of a plum-throated cotinga to your research assistant, and embark on a full-fledged research career in the King's College Avian Biology Department.
---
You see this attention to detail in the downloadable content's longevity, too, with the main storyline taking me about 1.5 hours to finish and the ornithology narrative taking 875 hours for completionists, who, like me, made sure to collect all 7,000 available bird skins and complete the challenging "Develop Evolutionary Model For Macaw Speciation" side mission.

Ultimately, most gamers just want to know whether this DLC delivers the heart-racing Hitman gameplay we've grown to love. The answer is yes and no. There are still thugs to shoot, drinks to poison, and, in the case of the ornithologist storyline, a significant amount of sneaking to quietly observe and tag birds to monitor their migration patterns. In fact, as much as Agent 47's ornithology career changes the game, I can't remember a more tense stealth experience than sneaking into the brush below an oropendola's nest and waiting for hours to see if the bird will return.

That's exactly what makes this new Hitman DLC such a can't-miss experience.

MUST PLAY - 10/10

Does the storm actually cause any gameplay changes? Thought it was just visual.

Dope map so far, just went through it a couple times. I love the setting and it all seems really well done.

If I had a tiny nit-pick, the storm is an incredible set-piece and I love the possibilities of dynamic weather, but it does get in the way of the vacation simulator aspects of the map that otherwise are a total slam dunk.

Obviously the best comparison here is Hokkaido, but Hokkaido was always calm and beautiful and serene (which played off well with how stressful the mission was) while this turns dark and foreboding real quick.

Really not a big deal at all, as long as we get weather controls in Contract mode in Hitman 3.

Durga maybe? A lot of Hindu gods and goddesses have a multiple arms so it's hard to tell.

Only played the map for less than an hour on master before sleeping last night. Seems pretty big and I haven't scratched the surface yet. Mostly fucked around with the server room trying to see what you can do.

Found a couple things pointing to some easter eggs :
Part of a treasure map with a skull and bones logo, I found an inflatable croc in the pool with a bar that has the same logo so must be related
Found two golden idols
The deposit safebox in the "transition" room between the manor and the underground complex is empty when lockpicked, seems weird, I assume it has something if you find and use the combination

The Special Assignments are still deeply disappointing. They should have focused on one for each expansion pack and packed in more detail and opportunities.

I don't think I like the storm. I would prefer that it lasted maybe 10-15 minutes at most and then cleared out or that it didn't exist at all. The island looks so beautiful before it comes in, that it kind of ruins it for me.

Shot some coconuts in a palm tree over that area and it made an ice anvil fall ??? Don't see how it's connected to the skull and bones at all

i thought this might lead to an easter egg too at first, but turns out this actually has something to do with one of the mission stories

One thing that really bums me out about the new map is the kill reuse. A lot of opportunities and deaths feel very similar to previous levels.

Poisoning the food as the chef is JUST like Hokkaido, the doctor and Tyson feels like Colombia/Whittleson Creek, etc

The new map is cool. I've only done my initial run so far but it seems like one of their stronger maps between both games, with a bunch of potential things to mess with that I didn't even touch during that first run. Also nice seeing them do stuff they haven't done before, like the change towards the end of the mission.

I've still got a bunch of stuff I haven't done yet in the game but with the way the story ends, the long wait to Hitman 3 begins.

Really liked this chunk of content. I felt even the Special Assignments were done better, even if they still feel like replayable Elusive Targets instead of truly standalone missions like 2016's Bonus Episodes for Season One.

Also kinda confused by the ending.

Did Lucas free The Constant?

So what's the consensus on the new map? Sounds like closest comparison is Hokkaido. Do you all like it? My pass wasn't registering on my PS4 this morning and had to go on the Playstation store on a browser to download. Looking forward to diving in tonight.

Yes. It's perfect Hitman luxury porn and features some top-notch questlines. Hokkaido is the perfect comparison.
