Holy shit, there was a sequel to Sin City and I had no idea it actually released. And it had a great cast?!

I honestly don't know if I literally just forgot that this released or that it existed or what. Like I remember reading about Eva Green being in it, and looking at the trailer again, it seems vaguely familiar, but I genuinely cannot parse the fact that this film was actually released! I'm not terrible shocked that it didn't get great reviews, but fuck, I'll watch Eva Greene in anything. That other "bad movies with great scenes" thread made me look up the 300: Rise of an Empire trailer, which led me to looking up Sin City, which led to this. WTF.

The trailer makes the movie look terrible btw. But still, Brolin, Gordon-Levitt, Alba, Greene, Dawson, Booth, and Roark.

I pretty much hated it. I mean yeah its a sequel but not nearly as good as the first man. Not even close.

Bricked at the box office too IIRC. And rightfully so. Ugh..

The storyline with Joseph Gordon-Levitt was interesting. And Eva Green poster with her almost naked was banned I think in USA, but she's holding a gun and that was in the "acceptable" guidelines for censoring I guess.

I remember not liking it whatsoever but also not really being able to place why at the time. It was just kinda...boring to me?

on a related note, it is borderline impossible to find the theatrical cut of sin city ... all i can find are versions that separate every story and it is clearly the inferior version

I have a giant poster for this in my closet still. I loved the original despite its obvious flaws, but the sequel is genuinely atrocious.

Eva Green is always great, but even the remarkably bad 300 sequel with her is more worth a watch than this.

Yeah it wasn’t very good and I dug the first one a lot. It didn’t help it took 10 years to get a sequel and while A Dame To Kill For is a good story, the original stories in the movie really weren’t all that good and the first film had the better 3 books adapted. The whole film is shockingly forgettable given the impact of the first, I mean Clive Owen doesn’t even show up as the post-operation Dwight right? i genuinely can’t remember. lol

I guess they’re working on a Sin City TV series? Probably debut sometime in the next decade. lol

I liked the original a lot and watched this years after it released, I don't really remember it at all except for being disappointed with it.

I loved the first one, could not wait for a sequel, then after forever in development he’ll it came out and all the reviews said it was super inferior to the original. So I never even watched it lol.

I saw this film in the theatre and I can't remember a damn thing about it. It was a terrible forgettable film

It’s more Sin City. It’s not nearly as novel and the tone is more inconsistent but it’s still good. Solid 6.5/10. Eva Green, too. Lots of Eva Green. That’s always worth something.

I liked it okay because Eva Green.

Definitely felt like way too late though. The whole thing is weird, but this is making me want to rewatch it now.

It killed the special effects company that worked on it, they opted for a part of the profits. There wasn't any so they went belly up. Might have been the second 300 movie.

haha, I keep forgetting to add this movie in threads about shitty sequels and the like. There's absolutely nothing here. And Eva Green, who should throw her agent off a dock.

It’s really weird how it manages to be boring despite Eva Green being naked for half of it.

I did like the story with the gambler though. The one with Jessica Alba was trash, horrible story to end the movie on.

I REALLY liked the original Sin City (something about how surreal and... not happy the original movie was made it a really interesting watch, like a violent noir version of the Twilight Zone) but I don't know, when the sequel came out I said "oh cool" and didn't actually watch it despite wanting to see more of that world when I watched the first one. I guess I didn't actually think it needed a sequel as much as I thought it did.

I barely remember the movie. It came out ~10 years too late. I do remember the original story (Nancy's Revenge) was awful and probably the worst part.

I adored the first film but I agree this one took too long to come out. I remember not even knowing it had been released until I saw it on streaming sites.

it was definitely weaker and missed some of the charm that Robert Rodriguez added to the mix of the first one. Felt like someone trying to replicate what happened the first time, years too late and after going through some shit.
