The guy got beaten has been identified , a press from global time.
He got detained and beat up because he says he support the police.
Where do you find moles who are 18-25 years old and also can roll off Cantonese profanity like poetry?
I have a friend in Hong Kong so I'm following this a little bit, I don't know much about anything going on (like at all). Why are the police fighting their own people like this, do they get fucked over if they don't obey or something? If all cops would stop and protest with them, would China sent in the army?

It's police, that's what police do, there are very very very few examples in history of the police siding with the people against their government.I have a friend in Hong Kong so I'm following this a little bit, I don't know much about anything going on (like at all). Yeah sheesh, pretty blatant too.

The biggest international crisis in the last few decades is happening and our only hope is an orange cheeto...God help us all.

There's been quite a few (and still are) actual wars in the last few decades, my dude. The biggest international crisis in the last few decades is happening and our only hope is an orange cheeto...God help us all.
I'm terrified we're about to see Tiananmen 2.0, all while my country (Canada) sits fucking silent about it so as not to piss off Beijing
Trudeau spoke to reporters from Toronto, where he called on Chinese authorities to listen to the protesters.
What is Canada supposed to do? Relations with China are non existant atm
Yeah nothing good will happen sadly. Maybe a flood of refugees in the next decade.
In the short term, pull out of the Chinese run development bank that the cons would do if they win anyways and Ban Huawei from 5G

How would banning huawei help Hong Kong?In the short term, pull out of the Chinese run development bank that the cons would do if they win anyways and Ban Huawei from 5G

Trump literally just said he received intelligence about the chinese military moving in near the border of Hong Kong.I've seen this mentioned a few times as fake now. Are we sure? I only ask because they just showed this on ITV news in the uk and said the military is stationed at the border
They've been in Shenzhen for like a week or something.I've seen this mentioned a few times as fake now. Are we sure? I only ask because they just showed this on ITV news in the uk and said the military is stationed at the border
they can protest all they want, do it in a peaceful way and should respect people with different voice.

So how 'bout you fucking tell us how you really feel.they can protest all they want, do it in a peaceful way and should respect people with different voice.
Now, tell me how you feel about this

I was responding to a specific post about what my government can do to show our displeasure to both what is happening in Hong Kong and China's bullying of our country. How would banning huawei help Hong Kong?
They have offices there you know.
if you say so.

I guess I don't get the point of "showing displeasure" in such way.I was responding to a specific post about what my government can do to show our displeasure to both what is happening in Hong Kong and China's bullying of our country.
I posted it yesterday, this is from chinese state media -I've seen this mentioned a few times as fake now. Are we sure? I only ask because they just showed this on ITV news in the uk and said the military is stationed at the border
The Chinese government clear does. They have Canadian hostages and engage in trade fuckery with Canada so it's only fair.I guess I don't get the point of "showing displeasure" in such way.
You know, if this is a part of some bigger geopolitical goals you think Canada should have that's one thing, but maybe let's not pretend we're doing it for the people in Hong Kong. The Chinese government clear does. They have Canadian hostages and engage in trade fuckery with Canada so it's only fair.
Yeah they had him blabbing away too, but didn't mention that at all, think they just had him screaming about bill and Epstein over hair force one.Trump literally just said he received intelligence about the chinese military moving in near the border of Hong Kong.
Ah. Makes sense.
I posted it yesterday, this is from chinese state media -
FWIW I think this is more to the Chinese domestic audience, to say - "look, we stand for security, law and order, unlike those Democracy crazy people, they only bring chaos" which Chinese media has been leaning super heavily into.
Whatever end up happening, this is just for show, and if god forbid they decides to roll in the tanks into Hong Kong, they can do it very quickly without having them joy-riding on Shenzhen's 4th ring road or whatever they fuck they do in that video. They have a lot of military bases in the region.
It's interesting, during the umbrella movement in 2014 Beijing tried very hard to block the coverage of it in the mainland. They banned instagram ffs. That makes way more sense. Hadn't thought about the the posturing for Chinese citizens angle tbh. Odd choice by the channel to show it tbh but the entire report was a little strange.
This time around they treat it like it's fucking shark week. I will say that at least so far, it seem to be more of the tone of "look at all that chaos" and they always cut to stories about great bridges getting built around China or whatever. My concern is that they'll really start to rile the population against Hong Kongers, I mean, there a lot of bankers in hong kong, it's not impossible to find one that is extra drunk, extra stupid and extra white and get him to be racist about mainlanders. But I have not notice them leaning into this so far.
