I wouldn't say that's how it ends. How it really ends won't be seen for some time. Elections next year and then seeing how executive power is reigned in or set free afterwards.
It was never going to go down any other way than this. The hope is that the impeachment and accompanying trial damages his brand enough to cost him the election next year.
BTW this is only one of the impeachments inquiries, there are other investigations ongoing including the Mueller investigation and NY investigations into Trump too with multiple subpoenas heading to the Supreme Court. Dec 13 the SCOTUS will take up Trumps request to block his taxes and finances that't when they decide whether they'll consider it at all, that's a really big date because sneaked into that NY ruling they say that not only does he have to hand them over but that the the memo that says a president can't be investigated is bullshit with the lower courts actually agreeing.
It takes not a majority but a 2/3rds super majority to impeach in the Senate apparently. We could see a majority and hes still acquitted and potentially reelected.
This is ridiculous. Hell be acquitted not based on innocence or guilt but based on what a conviction would do to a brand.

Nunes being in the thick of it with Rudy, Solomon, and Parnas while being the ranking head of GOP House Intelligence is probably an unprecedented conflict of interest for a congressional committee, let alone during an impeachment investigation. That he did not disclose any of this should be career-ending.
Not just that but its particularly problematic being he was the former chair of the intelligence comittee and ranking member after dems took over Congress. He is one of the gang of 8 that gets briefed on matters of national security and classifed information, what the hell is he doing talking with people like this in ANY capacity given his position much less keeping it secret.

These are paraphrased quotes because I was listening live, but Schiff just said on a press conference that he's "reserving comment on Ranking Member Nunes' activity" but that it's "deeply concerning that it appears members of Congress may be complicit in the President's political schemes. I won't state that as an unequivocal fact until there is more evidence, and our focus is on the President's wrongdoing but it may be another body of Congress's responsibility to look into those allegations against members of Congress."

that actually wouldn't be a bad constitutional amendment. Although then you probably would get every single republican house majority impeaching a dem president to not have to run against an incumbent. That could backfire though.

House judiciary will have hearings starting this week. Articles of impeachment will be drafted/voted on, presumably by year's end. House will vote to impeach Trump on a party line vote (simple majority is all that is needed in the house). Then it will be handed to the senate for trial, where McConnell will see to it that the entire process is as much of a sham as possible, John Roberts will preside as judge over this sham trial, and things will ultimately end with Trump's acquittal some time early next year. By then, we're rockin' and rollin' into primary season...
Yeah, they're only asking for 14 months. Guy should be barred from ever holding a position in government again, on top of it. I mean, it should go without saying that he should never actually be elected by anyone again, but this is America, so I really wouldn't be shocked if he ran and won again. Let's just make that impossible.

They voted on on sending the summary/recommendations to the judiciary committee. Its considered the 'official' report of the house Intel committee and other committees by rule of majority vote. A minority report was already released earlier this week I think.
