PS+ 8/10. Lots of heavy hitters like Bloodborne, Ratchet or Rayman.

Gold 7/10. The One offerings weren't that impressive, but they gave some of the best games the 360 has to offer.

PS Plus was better this year if comparing directly, but the problem is I already owned all the games from Bloodborne to Ratchet to GoW3 to Soma to Knack and all the other good stuff listed there. So it didn't offer much value for me at all, but that's not to take away from the fact that it would have been an immense year for someone who didn't already own these great games.

Bring back the day one indies please.

Agreed.

And yeah, I really hope that once they remove PS3 and Vita games from the lineup next March, they bring back launch indies. Ideally I think they should move to 5 games per month, two AA/AAA games, two indie games (including launch indies) and one VR game.

PS+ way better for current gen games. GWG much better for past gen games.

Overall very happy with both. I hope we get more PSVR games next year when PS3 games leave PS+ and that we continue to get OG Xbox games with GWG.

Hard to say honestly. I feel the quality overall averaged out to making PS+ better, but the ups were better with GwG, at least for me.

Free Superhot was nice. Assault Android Cactus was a cool surprise. GWG kinda just blends together with Game Pass for me at this point though. Would be fine if they just focused on Game Pass only going forward.

GWG. Duh
You keep your games. The PS Plus games all have expiration dates.

Edit:
I was thinking 360 games.

I hardly ever get round to playing the PS+games,so many games to choose from these days.I did enjoy Rime a lot though.Overall this year has been average for me as I usually own the bigger titles already.

I play most of the free GWG games but it wasn't until right now that I realized it's totally merged in my brain with Game Pass. Even though I played them, I couldn't have told you they were GWG or GP.

An interesting revelation to me. I played so many more different games than I think I bet have in one year,, despite my ongoing D2 and Halo addictions. And I've spent less than ever.

I'd still vote PS+ lineup. But that might be partly because I haven't played any PS 4 games other than dabbling at a friend's sonthey all seem new and inviting.

Both services are pretty forgettable. I would imagine this being a hardcore gaming forum most of the good games on each service are owned by most people. Still cool that we get stuff for free though

Both were pretty decent but I haven't played much of the offerings. I have a huge backlog + new releases + already owned some of the games.

I have to give a special shout-out to Sony for offering Bloodborne which made me give it a second chance. I fell in love with the game and got Platinum and finished Old Hunters :)

PS Plus by a good margin. If I were to list only the higher quality current gen titles, for GwG I'd probably list:
  • Battlefield 1
  • For Honor
  • Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
  • The Witness
  • Superhot
On the PS+ side I'd list
  • Soma
  • Yakuza Kiwami
  • OnRush
  • Destiny 2
  • XCOM 2
  • Trials Fusion
  • Rayman Legends
  • Trackmania Turbo
  • Bloodborne
  • Ratchet and Clank
  • RiME
  • Grand Kingdom
  • Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

I think PS+ offered a better lineup of games, but the problem is that I owned most of them already, which makes GwG the better value for me.

This year has been the best in years for PS Plus in terms of games selected for PS4. Granted i didn't play a single one but that's because i have enough trouble to keep up with recent releases. But i downloaded more games than in prior years. PS3/ Vita selection is totally forgetable but these platforms are gone in 3 months anyway.

I don't have Gold so i won't comment.

Clean slate if you haven't played any of the games PS Plus clearly has the upper hand.

I wanna say I got more value from GwG though purely because I played most of PS Plus' offerings already. Superhot coming to GwG was awesome.

I have to give two ratings, one for how I viewed the offerings, the other for just the games offered.

PS Plus has been great this year, really good selection, but I own the PS4 games for ten out of the twelve months. So for me, 4/10 (since I still own a PS3) , in general 9/10.

GwG is the opposite. I owned almost none of those games for Xbox, plus I loved getting the 360 games, since you can keep them once Gold runs out (On a X360 console). I feel the games weren't that great in general though. 9/10 for me, I guess 7.5/10 for overall.

PS+ had better current gen AAA games but issue I have with these services is that AAA games I want I usually buy. It's the Indies and backwards compatible games that have given me the most value. GWG Indies were better and can't play any of the PS3 games on the PS4.

Which one has Knack.

In all honesty they are both great. Not like I have a choice for PS Plus though since I play online often. The games are the cherry on top

PS+ almost had a big game every month. Gold's best games were 360 games (which isn't a complaint, I love the BC).

Sony won the whole year with Yakuza: Kiwami. Hands down.

But, Bloodborne ran it close.

I didn't play any of the GwG games this year so I guess I don't think too highly of the lineup. Can't comment on PS+ since I don't have PlayStation.

It's not even close imo. Bloodborne, Ratchet, Heavy Rain, Destiny 2, GOW 3, Kiwami, Deus Ex... and now I'll finally play SOMA.

Btw in Brazil Dragon Age 2 was replaced for The Maw.

PS+: Couple of shitty months, but overall decent to good. Would have rated it a lot higher if I hadn't already played the really good games added like BB and Yakuza. PS3 stuff has been pretty dire throughout though.

GWG: Pretty garbage overall tbh. It's been getting gradually worse since MS began aggressively pushing people to buy Gamepass subs and now that they're dumping OG Xbox games on there I can't see it getting better any time soon.

Playstation Plus had a good run. Bloodborne, Yakuza Kiwami, XCOM 2, and Ratchet & Clank are all worth the ticket price.

Some good months and some bad months on both sides. When you consider that games can go on sale for as much as 75 to 85% off then I would say both services have been fairly underwhelming.
