My first thought on this thread was why anybody would think it a good idea to start from that film and imagine how wonderful it would be. It's pretty horrible from Ava's point of view, and not much better if you're a human.

How great would life be with ex machina level robots?

My first thought on this thread was why anybody would think it a good idea to start from that film and imagine how wonderful it would be. It's pretty horrible from Ava's point of view, and not much better if you're a human.
Do I want advanced robots to do menial tasks and serve me? Sure.
Do I want those robots to (appear to) be thinking, feeling, beings that resent their role and want to escape and/or kill me? Hell no.
I don't even want a robot I can have a conversation with. Just understand me when I say to go pick up the dog poop in the yard.

I mean, if they're treated just like us? All the same rights? And they don't have secret programming that plans to overthrow humanity?
