Makes browsing certain threads on Era a pain in the ass. "Favourite action scene" "Favourite fight scene" "Favourite villain"....it's always filled with mostly anime/manga stuff.
I'm with you. I also got my big One Piece manga collection sitting on a shelf beside me that I stare at on at least once on a daily basis. I also used to look down on hentai aficionados, but... we all fall into ruin sooner or later.Naruto and Bleach in my formative years left me with constant daydreams of powers and moments of heroics, feats of unbelievable strength and speed, etc.
That being said, I thankfully never was into or understood hentai, so I'm still well-adjusted ... in that regard.
No, but for real, I daydream about having power ... frequently. So perhaps I'm not that well-adjusted after all. I don't own any paraphernalia, don't wear any anime clothes or shoes, no posters, etc.
But the daydreams man. The daydreams.
On second though, I'll have to mirror NESpowerhouse. I've been indescribably harmed.
Damn those people sound seriously boring if they don't even enjoy JoJo wtf??? That's the real problem here.
Ehh, I wouldn't go that far. It seriously isn't for everyone.Damn those people sound seriously boring if they don't even enjoy JoJo wtf??? That's the real problem here.
anime has affected you negatively in ways you don't understand
the fans have hurt you in some way and that means anime has hurt you
Anime turned my longtime MMO group into a bunch of creeps with no grasp of reality. They glorify photoshopped Asian women as they trash other races, defend anime child porn and masturbate on figurines. They think they are well-adjusted individuals - they are anything but. I called them out on all their bullshit and left the group for good. Now I criticize modern anime whenever I can, hoping this poison can somehow be stopped. The fact it is an uphill battle frustrates me every day.
Honestly, it kinda seems like at least some of that group were likely already into that and just let it become more and more open over time. That's what it seems like to me as an outsider. Like that's some deep end kinda stuff.Anime turned my longtime MMO group into a bunch of creeps with no grasp of reality. What kind of anime did you all get into? My first exposure was in the 90s so all my gateway shows were on Toonami and Kids WB and all those channels.Tendencies maybe, but anime allowed all of that to flourish. They feel validated in their lifestyle choices.
I'm back on the straight and narrow.... but I wore stuff like this back in the late 90's early 2000's:
:(
Heh that's pretty good and true actually.A lot of heartache caused by exposure to the few genuinely great works of anime out there within a short timespan, followed by years and years of chasing that dragon only to realize much too late that the dragon doesn't really exist.
Well what are your favorite shows?I get kind of sad when the topic somehow becomes one of anime, and obviously the question of "What's your favorite?" comes up and when I say mines no one has heard of it.
Also when people start talking about ongoing shows (usually the shounen ones) and I can't add to the conversation because I usually don't care to watch the Shounen Jump stuff.
It's okay though, because anime is fun.
