lol @ the poll

I finish maybe 4 or 5 games a year at most nowadays, if that. In my younger days I could finish 10-15 or so a year.

0-25 oh man

I do like, 3-5 a year. I haven't been able to fill out a top 10 since 2014.

Probably about one per week, very few being large RPGs. I play video games every evening. I had one period lately where I focused on knocking a few short ones out of the backlog and probably finished 10-15 in a month. The month I played The Witcher 3, not as many.

holy shit I don't think I've beat 25 games in the last 10 years lmao. I've played far more but rarely finish any, takes a real special one for that

Last several years:

2018: 43
2017: 35 (lots of time put into long games like BOTW)
2016: 48
2015: 55 (five months of unemployment)
2014: 63 (I was unemployed the entire year)

Only at 21 for this year though, but will probably still break into the 25+ group. I think a missing metric that is interesting is total/average hours played.

Generally I finish around 30 a year. Sometimes I get 40 if I end up getting really into certain genres, but that's less common.

20-30 is probably my average. I'd say I start close to 50 but end up dropping off of most of them for one reason or another.

25+ is basically a game every two weeks? AC Odyssey took me almost three months and I'm still not even done the DLC. I could see there being the odd year or two in my 36 years on this planet where I have beaten more than 25 games in a year, but normally maybe somewhere in that 10-20 range. I do play a lot more games than that, especially due to Game Pass, PS+, etc, but I'm sure in a normal year I do not finish more than 20 games, almost ever.

It really depends on the year but 25-50 seems right for this poll since I haven't been sub-20 in 6 years. Did the 52 games, 52 weeks challenge a few times which pushed my average up. Overall I'd say 20-30 on "normal" years. Which honestly isn't hard since most games I play tend ta be pretty short.

The last 4 years I've finished at least 45 games per year. Before that I'd finish between 10-20. As you can can see I have more free time now.

Last year I finished 24 games, in 2019 I'm at 14 so far. So, between 20 and 25 I guess.

Well I'm on 17 for the year so far and I've been trying really hard...

Seriously you need additional options between 0-25, the average gamer doesn't complete more than 5 games in a year.

Use to be maybe 5-8 a year, now it's 24 a year after I completely stopped playing multiplayer games. Although the new cod might change that.

I genuinely don't think I've finished a game since DK:TF came to Switch. So, I'll say 1-2 if I'm lucky.

That being said, most of the games I play don't really have a "finish" - like OW and SSB.

Haha you fucked up those poll options 😂

I'd say about 20 personally. I used to enjoy finishing more games so would pick smaller games to pad the number, but now I mostly go from meaty game to meaty game.

I'm on 8 PS4 at the moment but one of those games was persona 5 so that took alot of my gaming time up. Completed resident evil 2 and 3 on PS1 though as well.

I usually complete between 30 and 40 games, but it seems to be trending down YOY as games are getting longer. I generally do not play online multiplayer titles... Monster Hunter being the exception.

I just don't beat games I rent anymore. My three resent rentals: Fire Emblem, Control and Astral Chain. I got about half way through them and just lost interest.

I aim to beat at least ten new games a year for GOTY voting purposes, and chip away at my backlog a bit too. Many games in both of those categories tend to be lengthy JRPGs for me, so I imagine the yearly total ranges from fifteen to twenty-five.

I came into this poll thinking "you know, I don't finish that many, maybe 5 a year, but that'll probably be one of the lower end estimates - certainly not the lowest on the poll"

Welp

Looking at this year, I beat Yakuza 0, Gris, RDR2, RE2 Remake, Dishonored 2, FFXIV: Shadowbringers (main story), AC Odyssey (finished base game, working on DLC). Caveat is I started playing some of those last year. I'm also hoping to finish Control, Yakuza Kiwami, and maybe a couple others like Bloodstained and Gears 5 if time allows before year's end. Probably will be a few others I start but don't end up finishing until next year.

So that's about 10-12? I think that's been pretty typical for me the past few years. Playing FFXIV on and off so that definitely has an impact on how many other games I have time to finish.

although me and others are fringe cases with way too many games played and/or finished, I do find it funny people borderline shaming those that played "a lot" of games, and by "a lot" I mean posts like "LOL I BARELY FINISH 5 GAMES"

You know, 5 games at an average of what, 10 hours a game lets say, is 50 hours. 365 days a year would be 8760 hours, so thats less than 1% of your time playing videogames a year, is that correct? Is that what those posts are implying, that in a gaming forum, you really only spend around 0.7% of your time in a year playing videogames? Unless this is specifically cases where you play more games, but you don't finish any, which is weird in itself but ok.

That pool is kind of ridiculous as someone who has a a difficult work-life, the minimum should be about 5-10 and that's where I sit :/ I do think I play more than that in a year, but nowadays most games bore me before the ending

You know a poll is extremely right-skewed when 218 people have participated and 0 have thought to troll with the biggest answer.

I finish 15 or so games a year. Sometimes 20.

It's really not hard to finish that many games.

He say you have 7 hours a week to game, an hour a day. That's 364 hours a year. Say even if your average game is 30 hours that's still 12 games a year.

I've had a crazy busy year and am at 28 right now. It's my hobby of choice so I guess it allows me to play a bit more
