I've had 5 phones over 16 years, so a little over 3 years per phone. I've had my current galaxy S5 for 4 years now. Will probably upgrade sometime this year.

When it literally cannot work anymore

I had 2 cellphones in my life. The current is a Moto G 1st generation released in 2013

Im pretty conservative.

I was patient enough for the bleedover of mid-range to flagship. Now just about every phone is damn fast and affordable.

I had an unfortunate incident with my S3 years ago... went to crappy android for a year... Got a Moto G4 for my birthday almost 2 years ago. Rocked that for a good while and now I just upgraded to the OG Pixel about a few months ago. Love the phone. Excellent product.

Im pretty content, Next cop will be years from now and may prob be the Galaxy 10/11 or something lol

My contract is a 2 year contract that I can upgrade at the end of, which would be next winter. I'm not sure if I will right away though, because I don't use my phone a ton, it's in near perfect shape, it runs well, the battery says it's at full health and there's no real need. I may wait a while.

I had my first iPhone 4 on 2011, upgraded to 5S on late 2013, replaced with guarantee to the same model on 2015, and I still have it to this day.

I may upgrade sooner than later, maybe to an Android.

Usually 2 yrs unless my phone gets broken. I just upgraded from 6s Plus to 8 Plus, but I actually didn't want to but I had to since the battery on my 6s is really broken. I would probably keep my 8 Plus longer unless the battery dies again.

Usually when there is hardware that really catches my eye. The iPhone SE was great, the 8 is fantastic, but I really don't like the X and won't like the XS (10S, 11?) unless the figure out the fingerprint sensor under the screen.

Only if it breaks or a crazy deal. I've been on the same phone for 3 years now, a $20 LG Tribute HD.I bought on black friday 2015. Before that I was using a flip phone

Whenever gotta have it friends get sick of them so about every other year but buying their 1-2 year old phones for like 20% of what they paid lol
Edit - should mention the other reason for this is I'm on about an 8 year old plan like 50 per month which is about half what most people in Canada pay

My note 5 is about 2.5 years old I think. It's still great, the performance is still fast and I think the camera is still great. But the battery is definitely near the end. I used this phone as a wifi hotspot regularly at work which meant I would go through 2-3 charge cycles in a workday sometimes, so it has had a lot of use. These days I don't leave the house without an external battery pack.

I'll probably buy a new phone in the next few months, but I'm hoping I can hold out until the Note 9 comes out.

Always 2 years.

Now that I'm finally on a device payment plan, I could see trying to push 3 years for that cheaper bill. I always crack my phones so they are hanging by a thread by the end of 2 years but I'm committed to keeping my Pixel 2 XL in good condition.

Was once a year, but with the Note 8, I really don’t see a need for a long time.

Still using the One Plus X. Would love to upgrade it, but I have small hands and am I fairly small dude in general, I don't want a bigger phone and there seems to be a lack of decent small phones these days. Before The One Plus X I was using the first Moto X.

My last upgrades were because my battery was fcked up or someone dropped my phone. If nothing like that happens I stay with the phone for 2-3 years

Still rocking the 5S from Black Friday 2013. I really want the Project Red 8 though I just don't wanna drop $700 on a phone right now.

These days, not that often. Phones have gotten too expensive, and they don't change enough anymore for me to feel the need to upgrade often.

Usually every 2 years, but have just reached 2 years and don't see much reason to upgrade from my S7 Edge.

Will likely be waiting at least another year.

Based on my pattern so far, a phone seems to last me about 4 years before I upgrade. Usually it's because I've damaged the phone to the point where I have no choice.

Got my XZ Premium last year and likely won't upgrade until we have phones with foldable displays.

I haven't bought a new phone since I got my Nexus 6P new. But I managed to get Google replace it with a Pixel XL back in summer last year. I probably won't bother getting a new phone until fall later this year at the earliest.

Used to be yearly when I used budget phones, but now that I'm going after that premiere shit, I guess every 2 years, might even wait 3 now that I'm using iPhones cause yeah ... those change a lot.

When my current one stops working well. 2-3 years. If I could, I’d use a phone for 5+ years, though.

Just got an iPhone 8, so hopefully that lasts pretty well.

Used to be until it broke, so I'd just replace the battery. Now since I can't easily swap the battery I upgrade when my battery doesn't keep through a day. I'm kind of breaking my own rule with my Note 5 now, since it's dead by around 4p (up at 6) but I have access to a charger at work all day.

Every 2-3 years

With the diminishing returns of new phones nowadays in terms of features, I'm pretty content on waiting a few years before getting a new phone

Trying to wait 3 years until EOL support for my current Pixel 1st gen. It died on me a few months ago and I had to pay a $100 deductible for replacement.

2 year minimum, but my Pixel 1 is still chuggin along well enough that I bet I'll push it to three this time around.
