Huawei P30 Pro can unlock your car, charges the fastest, and seemingly takes the best pics of any phone. It’s bonkers innovative.

What if you could have it all: super fast performance, marathon battery life, a bezel-starved screen, and a camera that competes with the Google Pixel for quality and pocket cameras for zoom? Huawei would have you believe that its new P30 Pro Android flagship is precisely that sort of no-compromise device. Announced at another gala event in Paris today, the P30 Pro addresses the few downsides of Huawei’s already excellent Mate 20 Pro from last year, and it adds a sophisticated new camera system that promises up to 10x lossless zoom. You won’t be able to buy it in a US carrier store, but this will still be one of the best-selling high-end devices across the globe this year. And probably one of the best.

The Huawei PXX Pro series are great phones. I'm interested in one of these to replace my LG V20 some day.

Oh the company that continually fakes pictures with high-end DSLRs says they have a good camera.

It's undeniable that their cameras are good (seriously, look at the P20 Pro and Mate 20 Pro real world samples), the whole marketing campaign with DSLRs wasn't a good look.

Will be interesting to see the DXO score for this. I'm sure it will do great despite all the faked photos.

Still would rather just get a new pixel than spend $1000+ on this.

I would like a phone that unlocks your car very much.
I'm just picturing this scenario right now:

Biestmann: Car, I said unlock now, Damn you!
Car: Unfortunately I can't do that right now, Mr Biestmann. I now belong to the Huawei Corporation and they said that your services are no longer needed.
Biestmann: I should've brought an iPhone.

Every car that can be opened from a phone already has an app for it.

My GMC app locks& unlocks my truck from anywhere in the world. Also starts it, which is the best in the winter here in Canada.

An iPhone won't unlock excelsiorlef's car for me either. If it does, I will consider it.

There's a huuuuge debate as to whether the DXO mark actually matters for smartphone cameras.

Like, the P20 Pro technically got the highest DXO score at its time of release, but the RAWs were terrible. The Mate 20 Pro did much better.

Huawei hasn't been doing well on their selfie-cams, unfortunately. It's kind of weird when even the V15 has a better selfie cam than the flagships of their competition.

All while spying on you for the Chinese government. Where can I sign up?!
Chinese government doesn't even need phones to spy on you. I work with a few chinese nationals, and they tell me that they have to open an app every day that has a daily communist lesson. Answer the questions at the end and send a screengrab of their result to their local communist party affiliate. Also, they are expected to send monthly updates to the party about what they are doing, what their long term plans are and what people around them are talking about. If you have multiple chinese nationals, they all get freaked out that someone else will write something in their report that they decide to omit and get passed up on promotions if they return for lack of loyalty. The youngest guy even has his dad back in China lobbying to avoid moving his registration to the USA communist party cell because the cell associated to the company he used to work for in China is more prestigious.

The camera is legit going by every video and sample from professional sites.

Too bad it's Huawei. I gave them a chance with the p20, and they fucked up.

I hope the big names start copying this.

Do you have a summary link about the debate? Something from DPreview or anywhere? I'd be interesting to read an overview.

Their review of the P30 Pro is apparently already up. Will be interesting to see how it shaeks out.

Zoom is always false advertising.
I already unlocked my shared cars years ago with my smartphones.

This seems to be without needing to open a separately downloaded app
