I got the bright idea to do a platinum run of FFX. Well here I am 94 hours later and still not done. (Luck spheres are a pita.) What's the most tedious trophy you've ever decided to chase down anyway, because you don't value your time

Star Ocean (and to a lesser extent Tales of) platinums are a fucking nightmare.

I don't value my time but I don't value trophies either so firsthand? N/A. But secondhand? I half-watched a former significant other earn my PSN account of ten years its first and to-date only Platinum via killing adamantoises for hours upon hours upon hours in FFXIII. I don't recall why they felt the need to do so nor how it tied into the Platinum acquisition. All I know is that every time I boot up the PS4 and tab past the trophies thing, I laugh seeing my one Platinum listed and shudder at my ex's dedication.

i don't know, but dodging 100 Lightning bolts is surely in the upper half.

It's not really tedious because thankfully the game is fun all the time, but i'm one trophy short of getting the Enter the Gungeon platinum and it's beating Winchesters challenge three times.

It's annoying because:

1. It basically never shows up, i feel like i go 20-30 runs sometimes without getting him.
2. Because it so rarely shows up, i absolutely suck at it and nearly always fail.

The Last of Us took nearly 200 hours i think, because of the multiplayer ones, but again that was pretty fun. Rayman Legends is the worst. You have to play it every day for a ridiculous amount of days in a row.

Goat Master -> The Flapmaster. Took me ages

Stardew Valley -> Fector's Challenge. Still haven't done it. Try every day for half an hour.

I decided to get the platinum in MGS4, which requires you to get every single codename on the ending results. By the time I'd done all the other trophies I felt I was in to deep to stop so had to play it however many more times.

Also Danganronpa V3 which requires you to put more time into the shitty board game and RPG mini games than the actual main story.

Also it's harder now cause of modern TV input lag ☹

FFX has a really bad endgame. Just a dull grind to get everyone up to 255 in everything

I'd like to nominate the dmc5 Platinum because of shit like getting s ranks on every mission. Led to stupid shit where you have to dance in front of enemies to get the style rank up high enough so you pass the threshold

I finished FFX several times but i couldn't give two shits for that Onion Knight. Horrendous challenge.
Actually i only ever got the one for Tidus, Wakka, Yuna and Auron.

Worse part is, that you'll need nearly everyone at 255 to fight the Dark Aeons and the Judge.

or you do it like me and save enough money to Zanmatou them.

Zanmanto isn't good for Dark Yojimbo since it doesn't have a 100% sucesss rate and you have to fight him like five times. I'm going to be going into that one with 200 luck. (Fuck doing 255.)

Personally I've always found the butterfly catching and the chocobo race (oh my fucking god that chocobo race) to be far worse grinds than the lightning dodging.
would you believe me if I told you I got the chocobo race in five tries just by not trying to beat the opponent to the first baloon and going straight for the second instead

Anyway thankfully for the trophy you only need to get the celestials, not fully awaken them. I'm just a glutton for punishment.

Just platinumed Nier.

Fishing is tedious.
Gardening is tedious.
And farming for materials to upgrade every weapon is a nightmare.

Yakuza wise you have:

Really tough skill based: Mini game master in Yakuza 3 (play the Japanese PS3 version for the hardest version of this). Basically clear every last mini game requirement the game throws at you. EX Hard batting cages (no crosshair, though there is a "cheat" for this) and Expert Pool are widely agreed to be the hardest of the bunch. Mahjong can also put up a fight if you dont know what your doing. The Japanese PS3 version of this also has you clear the quiz game Answer X Answer which aside from requiring actual Japanese reading knowledge also requires you to know all sorts of answers to geographical, pop culture, history etc. questions and be fast. Good luck with that one!

RGG1 HD for the PS3 also has one trophy for clearing all of Haruka's requests - the last of which is clearing the batting cages - 20 home runs in a row. Which is bloody hard. Never did manage that...

Time Consuming: Yakuza 5's 100% run has, as of a few minutes ago taken me 150 hours. Just about to fight Amon. Not really hard as there are cheat items for gambling and most requirements are actually very fair, there's just so many different things to do in the game that it'll definitely take you a very long time to do. Its rather darn fun though, so I judge it as a bad trophy, just an insanely time consuming one within the series.

Grinding ahoy: FOTNS and Ishin both have grindy trophies that take ages to do. FOTNS has the amulet trophy, and especially in the Japanese version of the game you gotta get every piece of armor which takes hours of random battles and arena fights in the hopes they drop. The English release of the game actually halved that requirement - basically saying instead of requiring 100% completion list completion, you only need 50%. Guess who played the Japanese game! Ishin has TWO completion lists, one fun, one absolutely pointless full of pointless grindy stuff. And its not as if getting all the modding materials is an easy task on its own. That was annoying for sure (but hey, at least the late game swords make the Legend difficulty run a cake walk.

0 also has the Dragon and Tiger grinding which is annoying. 95% of ingredients you need are easy to get, but 2-3 items are super low drop rate items that you can spend hours trying to get on their own...

Just fucking shit: Yakuza 0 has (in my opinion) the worst trophy in the entire series of games - Clear cat fighting 10 times. This is basically an RNG heavy mode that can be maneuvered around if you figure out each girls pattern (super hard in its own right) but also hope that they don't also just pull off a super move that kills you outright, even after you win the match. Worst mode and worst trophy in the entire series no doubt.

I don't have the patience to platinum anything. I usually drop a game after the credits, unless it's got meaningful story content in the post-game. That said, I did grind frogs in FF9 not too long ago, which I found weirdly relaxing.

I remember there being a killzone MP trophy that was almost impossible to get unless you played launch week. Warhawk had insanely hard trophies. Most MP trophies actually.

Haha, that's my exact strategy.

I believe you. Would you believe me if I told you I've awoken the celestial weapons on six different playthroughs across the PS2, PS3 and Switch?

When the devs are making fun of you for doing it, you know it's tedious. Some crazy people did this before WoW even had achievements.

To be honest that only takes about 20-30 hours to do, FFX is much worse in that regard.

But I don't consider either of those a grind, I've done them both two times each.

FFXIII for sure. Aside from the mindless grind to max everyone in every job you had to farm rare drops from Adamantoises (Trapezohedron) to craft the ultimate weapons for everyone. Took me 110ish hours until the platinum trophy popped. I don't regret it, though.

See my post to find out what the grind was for...

I'd consider 20-30 hours quite the grind, especially if RNG is involved (droprates) and that is just for one of the endgame activities...

I hate that like 6 games I was hoping to 100% are listed in here.

I've 100%ed all Assassin's Creeds up to Syndicate so far, and feel like a shithead for that. Unity's collectibles was really bad.

Nier was painful, mat grinding was unreasonable in that one, even with the DLC

Bioshock 2's Reincarnation was LONG hours of boosting sessions

I also just finished the Dunwall City Trials from Dishonored on both PS3 and PS4, let me tell you that was no joke. Bonfires can be ridiculously tedious but the DLC requires perfection on top of patience

Honestly FF games arent really too bad, mostly because I've done the equivalent of a platinum run in all of them before. 200 lightning strikes are easy with the exploit spot, and 1000 jump ropes is easy with the remote play trick lol

Also the Chicken rank in MGS4 (which should have been easiest to get) turned out to be the most painful to get lol

I also got the platinum for FFXIII and reading that made me shudder as well. It's been 9 years and I still remember very clearly everything about the admantoises lol. The music. The map you keep going in and out of to respawn it. That tactic of using highwind to kill the feet to stagger it then kill the head. I was at about 110 hours when I finally got it.

It was to get platinum ingots to sell them and buy trapezohedrons and upgrade the weapons.

All the weapons T_T

Yeah same.

I'm pretty sure the only reason I went for that platinum was because it was a summer where I didn't have anything else to do, lmao.

That's the chump's way. The real grind was to get the trap drops from the turtles themselves. Also the best way to respawn (this is when you're maxed out and didn't get a drop) was to reload the game. My poor PS3 at the time hated that.

I actually got all achievements in FFX as well and had a lot of fun doing it...because I skipped the stat grinding step with a save editor. Did everything else manually tho.

Most tedious trophy for me was getting all pigeons in GTA4. After I was done I took a step back and thought "Wow, why did I do that?". Eventually stopped being a trophy hunter.

I actually Zanmantoe'd Dark Yojimbo 3/5 tines I fought them. Was pretty funny.

Also, dodging 200 lightning strikes isn't difficult if you use the best location.

1,000 jump ropes is 1,000 times more difficult

lol, I know that feeling. I too decided to give up on trophies for the sake of it after those stupid pigeons. No idea what R* was thinking with the placement on those things, they were next to impossible to find without a guide.

I got the Platinum and don't remember being this boring, honestly. The 200 Lightning bolts were ease too.

My most tedious trophy was the multiplayer trophy from Tomb Raider Reboot. I played solo matchs for about 15 hours, farming XP.

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart
You've mastered this game!

This is probably the absolute worst Platinum I've ever gotten in terms of absolute mind numbing tedium.

To give some insight, Hyperdevotion Noire is an SPRG with 22 characters. You have to max their relationships up by having them perform a move when next to each other. (like Fire Emblem).

But you have to do this 100 times to max one of the relationships out. For all 22 characters, between all of each other.

I can't even remember what my playtime was after doing this.

I got every trophy in Peace Walker HD except for Divine Wind where you use the old musket to fulton a soldier via a magic wind summon. I could handle soloing the 80-person clown car vehicle battles, but grinding Ratholos for a ~13% chance item drop just to get the musket pushed me over the edge.

I had broken that game down into its raw mechanics. It wasn't even a game anymore.

I would run through each level with the sneaking suit tapping R1 for a millisecond to instantly hold up each guard.

oh my god. Okay, definitely using those scripts when I get around to the FFIX run. I did like 200 or 500 or something on an emulated version one time, so I feel like I've already done my time with the jump rope minigame. *shudder*.

I tried to platinum FFX back when the remaster was released in PS3. Don't remember exactly what trophies I have yet to get but most probably the ones related to the sphere grid and defeating Nemesis/Penance.
