Yea this.Do we want them to when R* goes out their way to use every possible stereotype for their character writing, especially for protagonists?
Looool. Ok.On the other Rockstar's GTA games have some of the worst writing in games and art that I've ever seen. I have zero hope that they could write a good female character.

I choose to play as female as often as I can in games, but this idea that it's now politically incorrect to not have females as the main character is becoming toxic.
I don't see how having a playable woman "fucks" with the formula.
The grim truth is that for us it doesn't touch the formula but for millions of people it does

The question is do you think Rockstar would actually be able to handle including that representation in a good and meaningful way?
What we would likely get is something akin to another "Prostitute with a heart of gold" trope where I highly doubt women would be shown in a socially positive way.
Representation for the sake of representation is silly if that representation is shit.
They did? Huh. I didn't follow the culture as tightly back then.A lot of people said the same thing for San Andreas.
Look at how that turned out.
Who cares what people want? Many people don't want POC in their games, does that mean they should pander to them?I've got a question regarding this. How many people would actually want to play as a female character? Wouldn't it make more sense to make a protagonist that the majority of people want rather than the minority?
I can see it making sense if it was 50/50 male/female who play GTA but I'm assuming it's mostly males who play GTA.
Forget about female, black male and black female characters, I think that they're already represented enough other than whites. What about Latinos? Where they at?

Not all gta leads are pieces of shit thoughAs long as she is a piece of shit like all gta leads should be ...sure.
lmfao whatIf the protagonist was a woman (assuming the themes GTA have), she would use her body and sex appeal and actually fuck her way up the power ladder, would people really want to play that game just to have some kind of representation?

Imagine the controversy of GTA 6 if they picked a female lead.
GTA is a MALE CRIME WORLD simulation, what do you expect? Flowers to womans?
Restricting your vision based on the wants of the masses is pretty pathetic. Probably offbase too, given how many people are excited for TLoU2.
At this point you're just making excuses Rockstar and their lack of ambition.
Good point, GTA has never been a controversial series before so why start now
Paige in GTA V and GTAO was well done. It's a shame she didn't have a bigger role, but she was a woman who clearly fit into the GTA world.Given how badly Rockstar handles female characters, it'd be an absolute shitshow.
Nothing wrong with having a female character you can opt to play, but force one down players throats as the sole playable protagonist in a franchise (just to please a certain audience)... you're going to cause a riot. Look at what happened with BFV when their lead guy went on a political correctness rampage alienating a huge part of their playerbase in the process.Who cares what people want? They should just do it and have a female character. Haters can cry me a river.
What about women who are "forced" to play as men. Ever thought about that for a second?Nothing wrong with having a female character you can opt to play, but force one down players throats as the sole playable protagonist in a franchise (just to please a certain audience)... you're going to cause a riot. I, for one, have no interest in playing a female character in a game, so a single female protagonist in a GTA title would be a deal breaker for me. And yes, I didn't play Horizon and am not interested in playing the new TLOU2 (no, I don't care about the marketing or lesbian angle that has people up in arms, I simply don't want to play as Ellie in general). More power to the people who want to play female protags though.

That's a two edged sword. In terms of GTA you were always playing as a male protagonist, so you can't really miss what you never had. But yes, it sucks for them if they want to play a female character. Maybe they'll go the multiple protagonists route again for VI and have a female one as part of the mix. That being said, I'm rooting for a single protagonist for VI.What about women who are "forced" to play as men. Ever thought about that for a second?

In GTA (first game aside) you also played as white men before San Andreas came out with a black protagonist, even on NeoGaf people hated on that fact because "how dare they have a black character in my GTA". Does that mean it is a double edged sword? No, it does not. That's a two edged sword. In terms of GTA you were always playing as a male protagonist, so you can't really miss what you never had. Exactly.I was in elementary school when people were whining about being "forced" to play as a black guy in San Andreas, and guess what, SA ended up being extremely well regarded by the GTA community.
People will always irrationally fear change until they actually experience. There were tons of people who wrote off a female protagonist for TLoU2 until it actually happened.

Where did you get that info?
Tlou 2 is a crime simulator ? I don't think people mind the woman MC that much if the game is good. Bloodstained, Horizon, Hellblade, Uncharted Lost Legacy are some pretty good examples as of late
TLoU2 is a game with extreme violence
starring a female protagonist in a male dominated world, which is an argument people used to justify GTA being male dominated forever.
Modern GTA games aren't even primarily crime simulators. They have crime based narratives with a clear through line.
There are plenty of sandbox games with female protagonists that let you get away with slaughtering countless people
You want them to make a GTA game that's the size of a small city block?
