I'm depending on the moderators to keep it pleasant. We need there to be one gaming hangout spot on the internet that isn't a toxic wasteland.
Aye, but it's not just up to the mods. It's on all of us. Looking back on my post history on GAF I can see how often I was unnecessarily brash, hostile and sometimes just an ass. The sucker punch from 11/9 took a lot of that spirit out of me, and in the weeks following and as much of the forum tried to reassess What Happened, both in America and in our community, it became painfully clear how mean-spirited some of us had become.

The last week has demonstrated how important having a stable, vibrant community is for a lot of us. I intend to contribute to keeping RE that way via how I post and communicate here. Fresh start is fresh!

I'm just saying someone is going to make a thread about Horizon Zero Dawn and then someone is going to mention Breath of the Wild and all bets are off.

I actually really like this idea.

It's hilarious; let's do it!

It really has been incredible, I think quite a few of us were a bit put off with how tense and even mean spirited the last community forum we regulared had become over the last couple of years, and are hoping to set the precedent of a more positive and friendly environment.

Here here.

Wow we got blame space, man it's like an all star group.

We are in what's affectionately called the honeymoon period.

Where everything is new and horizons are broad.

That never lasts.

The thing that makes me giddy?

I already know I'm friends with a multitude of people here. So there's friendship as a foundation.

You and your friends better watch out for me and my friends. We don't take kindly to your type around here.

I remember when about 6 major users at TeamXbox, including myself, tried to kill TeamXbox because we hated the moderator Dayofthunder XB and the owner Shockwave.

We migrated to Consoletalk, and posted there until we got tired of it. Then we came back to TeamXbox and they made us all mods, which lasted about 3 years, after which we all left and watched TeamXbox get bought out and disintegrate into chaos and eventually close..

None of those things is ever going to happen to this forum if it keeps a steady stream of content and discussions. I realize this is a somewhat indelicate thing to ask, but does Resetera have long-term financial backing?

I'm so used to internet culture that all the positivity here feels kinda off. Not saying that there's something actually wrong with this place, it's just how my brain works after spending a good chunk of my life on the internet.

I've been registered to GAF for a number of years, but I haven't been an active poster. I find Reset Era to be a pleasant community to browse and converse in.

I've been at the ground level of this sort of thing before, and it's usually very ugly, but this place is full of people being friendly to each other left and right.

That is how you set a great tone for a new place. Every topic I've visited is people fulfilling exactly what it says it's supposed to be, civil discourse. Maybe it's just great moderation, but every thread is welcoming, no one is insulting each other, and the vibe is just generally good.

This may not be much of a cause for discussion in and of itself, but it deserves recognition I believe.
Agreed,also hey Speevy!

Lol!

We crossed paths a few times over at TeamXbox.

I posted as thUnd3Rm0Nk3y or some such nonsense.

I hope it stays that way. The mods are also very polite. I love the explanations given for the posts marked with red warnings.

Not to be cynical, but give it time, and I'm sure things will start to trickle down a bit into the informal unfortunately.

It's really more inevitable, and not that I'm saying I want it that way, but I don't have high hopes of it staying at the level it is right now at least.

One can hope that it could stay like this for some time, but at some point it may not work out.

In any case, I'm just going to take it all in right now for what it's worth. :D

Yeah, it feels like everyone's so friendly here. I hope it will be consistent and will be like this forever.

The lack of carried over baggage is nice. Plus looking at the moderation team, I recognize a lot of great quality posters amongst the names.

I expect some burner accounts & shit-posters to find their way on to some threads but I can't imagine that'll ever be the norm.

Just want to give a big thank you to the staff for setting the tone from the outset.

Well, some negativity is bound to rear it's head. It's how the site deals with it will be entirely different. ToS is far more fleshed out and nails specific issues that have been considered detrimental and is now bannable offenses, or at least warranting a warning.

I'm just glad to see Speevy over here. Hell yes.

Good to see you too.

It was a pretty easy decision for me once I saw who all had migrated. Also, I have no interest in discussing what happened, but this forum's administration seems to care whether you are a member. I like being valued, not as more or less important than anyone else but thought of as just the same. I don't regret losing 60,000 posts because I hardly replied to anyone who is still there, and if I did, they'll be here too.

That other place was civil and friendly outside heated Political threads. The biggest issue was the mods over there were Gods and falling out of line meant death. No chance at debating. 1 and done. So far it seems the mods here are a lot better and more transparent.

People were routinely nasty in relationship threads too. I think we could all stand to be a little more patient and understanding. Definitely liking the vibe for now. Hope it lasts.
