You also see the covers without directly going in a profile by hovering your mouse on top of someone's avatar, or by tapping on an avatar if you're on mobile.

I managed to upload a banner I use, but only after reducing the filesize to a tiny 270k. The actual height/width dimensions are much more flexible, though.
