How deep does this go?

I'm not familiar with this person or the game they're tied to. What's the deal with him exactly? Why couldn't they speak up?

Looks like they made a game called Innerspace. And are saying Philip caused them to lose sales from a bad review/preview or something?

I have to ask for the third time: Why did he even want this job if he didn't enjoy actually doing it? There's no fame or money in it.

How deep does this go?

I think this is an interesting and important point regarding this issue and the impact & responsibility of gaming journalism, in general.

This is a massive industry, bigger than Hollywood, but there's a lot of flimsy work done covering it. I think it goes all the way back to the total dog shit of early gaming magazines, where this whole thing started as a lark for a much smaller audience that was largely considered to be playing with toys for kids and nerds.

Kudos must go to the mod team and the overall administrative group for tightening things up, while it's a fluid and developing event (due in no small part to Kotaku's rolling coverage, it's like a police chase) there are real people involved and nobody likes dirty laundry aired.

Ask yourself, what are you going to do? I don't bother with stuff like PAX but am seriously considering attending one of them soon just so I can personally show some support to the IGN folks. You should thank them and show them that they are still appreciated by the gaming community for all the hard work they put in.

On a related note, I am a little bit amused this has momentarily bounced the other 'is it stealing' topic from earlier (the rom site takedowns) - gee whiz.

Even if you are really bad at journalism you can write, write and write; read, read and read to get better. Copying and stealing is so bad. It never gives you a chance to grow.

Holy shit. And people thought Schreier was being a bit too harsh.

Oh I remember the game Inner Space. He talked about it on NVC and it did seem he didn't fully understand that game.

I believe I remember it being the first game he "reviewed" as part of IGN.

The review itself as with everything else was taken off IGN though.

Speaking of other industries or markets besides video games, has there been any other writer who plagiarized or continues to plagiarize as much as Filip has?

It is unfathomable the extent to which this guy went so that he would never actually have to do his job.

By the way, it's worth noting that Boomstick Gaming has now more subscribers than Filip's Youtube channel.. YAY!

Boomstick is at 73K
Filip at 62K

Small wins. At least there's this silver lining for the guy that opened the floodgates to this fraud. My hope is that the gaming journalism community, and just gamers in general will be a lot more sensitive about plagiarism. Even more, these people that Filip stole from will be given the proper compensation.

Hey guys. I'm getting married in a week.
I haven't written my wedding vows yet.

Anyone got a speech I can use?

Thanks in advance for saving me a lot of work

Alright, I was in the side of "This guy is fucked forever, I feel bad for him". But now after seeing the size of this rabbit hole, good riddance. Holy shit, what the fuck?

Hey bad guys on internet, if you're reading this, never ever challenge the internet to find your dirty stuff, literally everything will be found. Even though I believe Filip stuff would have surfaced anyway even if he hadn't posted that video challenging people to find more instances of plagiarism.

You gotta be a special kind of dumb after your 1 instance of plagiarism get busted and then proceed to challenge the internet to find more instances of it (which Filip obviously knew beforehand that there was more instances, since he did them).

Here is the text of the InnerSpace review. I don't know if the rule about copying the whole article still applies if it's not live anymore, but feel free to remove it if need be.

Has this been posted yet? Miucin took at least one full sentence from Jose Otero's Abzu review. The craziest part is that Miucin's review even has a hyperlink to the Abzu review in the sentence that he took from that Abzu review.

Abzu takes the graceful feel of movement and subtle push toward discovery that I've enjoyed in similar exploration games like Journey and Flower and builds a refreshing-yet-simple underwater adventure around it.

Does he have an original thought at all? That's so blatant.

I thought I'd stop being surprised after the plagiarized resume, but apparently not.

This might be the best one yet if only because he steals from his current employer and he actively puts the title of the game from the review he is plagiarizing into his new review. It's probably more work than actually formulating hisnown review.

Well, this is blowing my mind, but I guess now we know why he thought no one would find anything.

Cause if nobody caught anything till now despite extremely blatant shit like this, maybe it wasn't so unreasonable for him to think he'd been hiding things well.
