I saw this on Reddit. https://imgurinc.com/rules

This means a ton of content will be deleted on May 15th including hidden and private images too. Not just NSFW but lots of helpful guides, tutorials, or other info put up by people who haven't registered in the past. That really sucks.

It worked so well for OnlyFans and Tumblr...

All non-registered posts too?
Damn, that will end up creating a shit-load of dead image links online, i can't help but feel like imgur is gonna catch a lot of shit for that choice.

Axing everything ever put up by unregistered users is going to create so, so many dead links, wtf.

Just another example of how the internet is a constantly burning Library of Alexandria.

I have used them often and for so long I can't think of when I wasn't using them to repost images... and I've never registered.

Damn that sucks, kinda expected it to happen eventually tho. I remember when photobucket died in my SomethingAwful days

Honestly, Imgur is the only app I feel safe browsing during lunch break without some some ridiculous anime ahego face or ass appearing. This is fine.

Remove all non registered user images…

The internet will then be filled with dead image links everywhere.

Deleting all images uploaded by non-registered users is such a wild move. A lot of useful stuff is about to be lost maybe forever.

Well, imgur was nice while lasted.

Hopefully doesn't take long before something takes its place with its death now set in stone.

That sucks that they're deleting existing images, I was looking only yesterday for an old image and because it was originally hosted on Tinypic it seems to be lost forever. So much stuff is going to be just gone after this.

If they will require an account to upload from now on I'll probably not bother using them anymore. They already downgraded the service with the newer image editor that doesn't even lets you resize an image, so have to do it locally first.

Not sure why their solution is to delete all the old images instead of making registering mandatory from now on

So many boobs, penii, and failed memes lost. Like tears in rain. Srsly sucks for all the useful stuff and img links that endured

Bold move from the website that people only started to use because it was the best place to host images for reddit.

delete all non-registered user images next month
can someone source this? Can't find it on the linked page.

Edit, found it here:

Our new Terms of Service will go into effect on May 15, 2023. We will be focused on removing old, unused, and inactive content that is not tied to a user account from our platform as well as nudity, pornography, & sexually explicit content. You will need to download/save any images that you wish to save if they no longer adhere to these Terms. Most notably, this would include explicit/pornographic content.

Maybe they won't erase all stuff it receives a lot of traffic, but how do they define this, etc. All very weird and probably not great.

who owns the past and the future? pretty soon both will be all digital. I just hope they figure some way to figure out trustworthy facts so they don't get snookered as easily.

Do imgur think they'll be safe from the financial disaster when other imagehosts and Tumblr did the same?

Rest in piece the photos I took of the rotten food the janitor cleaned out of our work fridge. You were used for many a fun story.

Apparently they've already started and the front page to a popular subreddit that rhymes with /donemild is a barren wasteland.

Just having a (free) account there. Anyone could upload before without registering. Presumably that'll change now.
Ah okay, I mean I've had a free account there for years now. You mean people are uploading things of importance WITHOUT an account? I mean…

It is pretty convenient to host an image and get a share link without fuss but I figured if you had any content that mattered to you, you would have had an account to go with it.

I'm also learning how big Imgur was for porn I guess? Innocent me lol.
