The second the midterms was won use one of the following to start impeachment : The Muller report, Trumps multiple conflicts of interest that goes back for years, firing James Comey, paying off Stormy Daniels. Take your pick.
A judge ruled only this Friday that Parnas could turn over these documents.
Add it to the pile of documents that could have been used since this administration began. If we started earlier we could literally add this to the pile on top of any of the other stuff.

Good to know you should only move on clearly corruptible behavior only if the polls are good enough to allow you to. All that waiting certainly paid off for all the kids who are still stuck in cages and will make their current situations instantly better I'm sure. We very nearly got in a war with Iran a week ago and this administration already has blood on their hands. I really do hate to be a Debbie downer during this critical moment, but the reason we are here is due to Trumps incompetence not Nancy's supposed 3D chess making. They should had attempted to prevent this mess with all of their power instead allowing it to get this far and waiting for Trump to be stupid enough to impeach himself.
Do you expect this person's answer to be reasonable and coherent with a clear understanding of the situation?

Who knew that impeachment was all it took to get immigrant kids out of cages.... so they're out right, as of December 18 2019, the date Trump was impeached?? Their situation became "instantly better" at that point? The Iran escalation happened AFTER impeachment, so it's not like impeachment has stopped Trump from doing crazy shit...

Pelosi became Speaker of the House on January 3, 2019. That means Trump was impeached within a year. The Mueller Report wasn't even released until April 18 2019, how would it have looked politically if Pelosi began impeachment hearings before that? Instead she waited, and still impeached Trump within the first year. What would impeachment a few months earlier have accomplished that would be so much better than now? The case for it would have been far messier and more difficult to understand than even the Ukraine one, and that was complicated enough. Or was Pelosi supposed to do it back when Dems were the minority party?

I wonder how old this poster is, and what's the highest level of political science courses they have taken....

The Mueller Report wasn't released yet the second the midterms were won. Also the date that matters isn't when the midterms were won in November 2018, but when the new Congress is seated in January 2019. Other than that, are you just arguing that impeachment should not have been so narrowly focused? They can impeach him more than once, and I hope they do.

It's really aggravating. The only ones who DID cover it pussyfooted it with "w...were they trying to kidnap her? scare her? I-I-I don't get what I'm looking at!" etc and transition to talking about Giuliani's fucking letter instead, and didn't even FLOAT the idea that they were discussing HARMING HER.

This too, though. I think they're genuinely scared to sound like they're accusing Hyde/Parnas/et al. of assassination plots. But it just comes off looking stupid when the texts are so... you know, clear.

Guiliani's letter is worse for Trump though since it directly implicates him in Guiliani's work in Ukraine.

That must be terrifying to learn.

Former US ambassador to Russia Michael McFaul is on the record how he was surveilled and harassed constantly while serving, so I'd think she is used to that part of the job.

But discovering that the orders come from your own government rather than the Russian oligarchy... or worse, that they're one and the same... Yeah, terrifying.

Honestly I can't even say I'm suprised by this shit. Of course they would seriously consider assassinating one of their one ambassadors, why not? Not like there are major moral and legal reasons not to. Then again morality and legality are definitely not this admins thing

Why is this thread not 20+ pages yet?

A sitting President either had with knowledge people under him plotting to assassinate one of his own diplomats or was stupid enough to hire idiots trying to do the same.

Daughterfucker literally turned the US government into a half-assed 70s style mob organization, complete with potential hits against their own ambassador.

Devils above.

Holy shit this crime syndicate masquerading as a government. Looks like they're trying to go full Putin.

Finally the Cold War is actually over, by the powers of East and West combined.

Give Trump the Nobel Peace Price already!

Somehow this is still surprising me. Threatening her, sure. Some clown alluding to a hit on their own ambassador? In texts?! Why am I still shocked by their incompetent evilness.

Yes, maybe it's worse for Trump optically, but the President of the United States' personal attorney's goons were stalking, and potentially floating assassinating, their own ambassador to the Ukraine for political gain. That not being a massive story out of the gate is a bit strange to me. But maybe it will gain adequate traction as the morning cycle revs up.

I have a hard time thinking this would be a hard thing to be arguing politically if they weren't so busy falling over themselves to argue that he would be "self impeachable" and to trust the American people to decide that in the next election. When he already tried to interfere in the 2016 election and tried again with setting up a sham investigation in Biden. Do you think it's a coincidence that Trump started the Ukraine call the day after Mueller testified to Congress after essentially being let off the hook for the entire thing? People have been calling this kind of stuff out since the beginning of the Trump Presidency, but the only thing to get Democrats to move is a Ukraine call which led us to moment when literally anything else could have. Waiting this long has only given him more time to fill our government with sycophants like Barr and pack our courts with his judges. But do go on how we should just trust a system and wait for it to fix itself instead of questioning or holding the people in charge doing their job.

We don't typically try to assassinate our own diplomats over a fox news tier troll conspiracy.
But yous have bombed people and conducted covert ops including assassinations on your own soil before, so while the US hasn't done this specific bad thing, again its not like it was because of morality. Trump in this particular case is just being extra shit at covering his shit up

And this is just what's been released by Bondy thus far.....

So where are the assassination claims coming from?

I see new evidence implicating trump giving direct orders to Giuliani, and the note from Parnas about "biden investigation"

Your defense of Trump (that's what it is, you're saying this isn't abnormal for the US) is the same as Trump's defense of Putin's Russia where people are regularly thrown out of windows... including just yesterday:

The US president appeared to place the US and Russia on the same moral plane in an interview broadcast before the Super Bowl kicked off in Houston, Texas. Asked by the host, Bill O'Reilly, if he respected Putin, Trump replied: "I do respect Putin. Will I get along with him? I have no idea. It's very possible I won't."
O'Reilly said: "He's a killer, though. Putin's a killer."
"There are a lot of killers," Trump replied. "We've got a lot of killers. What, do you think our country's so innocent?"

Lol defense of Trump. I'm saying the US doing immoral covert ops on their own soil isn't new. It's still fucking terrible and he shouldn't get away with it, just like the US shouldn't have the previous times. You can recognise that US has always been an immoral imperialist country and still be mad about it. But the main difference with Trump is that he's incompetent at keeping a lid on shit, and goes mask off on shit the US right has agreed with since forever

I'm so fucking tired of this fascist asshole and his fascist administration. And I'm especially fucking tired of the shit stains that gleefully support and vote for this.

Going after a foreign terrorist or drug cartel is not the same as putting a hit on their own ambassador, this has never happened in US history as far as I know.

Fair, though I'd prefer we don't kill anyone needlessly.

Especially unarmed students at a protest.

Agreed.

This is not a moral difference. Killing citizens they have the duty to protect is potentially worse tbh

Maybe I'm thinking of strategic, rather than morality. This is an escalation since it's "one of their own," as it were. It's a microcosm of what happened with Soleimani, it's a line the powerful don't cross without severe consequences.

I suppose strategically maybe you could say so sure. However that wasn't the point I was trying to make nor was it the point the person I originally responded to was making either as far as I can tell
