Etika is a popular internet personality and content creator / streamer who has a large following in the Nintendo and Smash Bros communities. He had a massive following on YouTube (700k subs I believe) but his account was deleted a few months back when he seemingly had a nervous breakdown and posted hentai porn videos on his channel.

He later had a comeback and has been tweeting and streaming again, but within the past few hours has started randomly spewing racist and homophobic insults on his Twitter account.

Getting pretty sick of shit like this. I hope the dude is well, but that doesn't excuse lashing out in this manner.

It's sad, he was great to watch, especially when a Direct rolled around. Not sure what happened to him, but maybe for his own benefit it would be best to leave the Internet behind.

He's popular because he acts immature and yells at the camera. The sooner he's banned off social media the better. Both for his own sake mentally and for the kids to stop watching people like this.

Uhhh... Why can't internet celebrities with a massive following (of which kids are a substantial amount) just... not use trash slurs and just behave like decent human beings? It feels like every week there's another one of these guys coming out of the woodwork with this shit.

People saying he got hacked need to remember that he torpedoed his own Youtube account, which had more than 700,000 subscribers. This is basically nothing compared to that.

Unless if rampant racism and homophobia on a series of tweets isn't stupid?

Do we blame Ambien this time? Mental health isn't an excuse for this sort of behaviour. Lots of people (myself very much included) have suffered from mental health issues yet don't do this.

Lmao I had no idea he did this, I just saw that he even made a new channel and created ANOTHER "im back" video.

I discovered him before smash 4 and stopped watching him cause he would on a consisent basis, disappear for weeks and than come back saying hes been "working hard", make a bunch of money and than disappear again.

The dude is weird and has so much potential in terms of money to be made but hes just so weird with everything

I have no idea what is going on with him but it's really sad. If it's a mental health issue I hope he gets some help to get out of it but if it's an attempt to be funny or edgy then gtfo. Always liked his over the top Direct reactions but I have stopped watching him since his last breakdown.

he's someone who got popular by doing over the top reactions to nintendo directs

then he did some dumbass stunt that involved shutting down his youtube channel and made people think he was suicidal (not his exact words, but he instead went "whoa guys that's not what i meant lol")

hopefully he gets removed from twitter and stays gone, i'm already tired of him popping up on my feed because some of the people i follow made the mistake of following him, although i blocked him before this shit apparently

saying that etika is doing this because he has a mental health issues isn't an excuse for his behavior or an indictment against other people with mental illness but clearly he has something going on that alters his behavior, provided he hasn't been hacked, which based on past incidents, I don't think he has.

What he needs to do is step away from the internet, continue seeking professional help for whatever's going on, and work through his own issues. Both his fans goading him on and people yelling at him cannot be good for whatever it is that's going on and we should be mindful of that. I can only hope one of his friends or a family member steps up to the plate and helps him, privately.

Honestly, these episodes sound like drug use to me. He seems pretty "normal" in his streams, but on twitter, he just raves about nonsense sometimes. It would certainly explain his erratic streaming schedule. He barely plays any games anymore and his viewers are constantly complaining about it. After the donations pour in he nopes out of the stream and makes some bullshit excuse.

Doesn't excuse his usage of slurs obviously.

The real shame is that Etika is actually a good entertainer. If only he would keep his head down and do his own thing.

Hmm I've never actually watched his stream, so this is an interesting insight.
