Floods, tornadoes, natural disasters, and tariffs: the new reality for some American farmers is leaving them with a bad feeling about the Trump presidency, and even their part in electing him, reported CNN on Wednesday.

On Sunday, White House economic adviser Larry Kudlow admitted to Fox's Chris Wallace that Americans will "suffer" as a result of the President's trade war.

On Tuesday, Trump went on a Tweet rampage as negative reaction by the press and stock market to the new tariffs news, saying "our patriot farmers" will benefit from this.

But some of those very patriot farmers do not agree with him, and are, as Kudlow admitted, suffering the consequences of the trade policy.

"This is survival at this point. I mean, for a lot of operations it is a survival thing," said Robert Ewoldt, who is keeping his farm afloat with a second job as a truck driver.

He interviewed farmers who said that Trump had "better hurry up and do something" in his negotiations with China and that they have regrets about having voted for Trump in 2016. One of those farmers, Iowan Larry Angler, said his family stands to lose up to $150,000 this year.

"Did you vote for Trump?" asked Savidge.

"I did," said Angler. "I'll never vote for him again."

Well until Trump reminds them that he wants to screw over brown people.

I'll believe it when I see it. But until then... no sympathy. Even if they wake up, no sympathy. oh well. lol

Until they have to go back into a city and interact with minorities again. Then their faith will be renewed.

Theres a good percentage of them that will never switch their vote. Never forget that, after destroying the US economy, Hoover got more than 35% of the vote.

That 35% is beyond any kind of reasoning.

Oh dear, you thought he'd only fuck over other people and now he's fucking you as well. At least by voting for him you did something to deserve it. No sympathy whatsoever.

Has the government been doing the handouts they promised? I thought I read that they haven't paid out money to the farmers affected by the tariffs.

They have recieved welfare money but not enough to offset their losses. Trump want's to give them billions more from the money he thinks tariffs are sending towards the US treasury. Trump still doesn't get it that tariffs are taxes on American importers of foreign goods.

All Trump has to do to win them back is go on Fox News and say that Obama was actually the one who started the trade war, and they'll instantly believe him.

Bullshit.

"I'll never vote for Trump again!" is what they said.

"I'll never vote for Trump again, unless a Democrat is running against him!" is what they meant.

"HE WAS ONLY SUPPOSED TO FUCK OVER THE NON WHITE PEOPLE! THIS ACTUALLY HURTS ME."

Kinda hard to have empathy or sympathy for people who had none for others.

Why are people in this thread acting as if Iowa isn't a swing state? Why write off potential votes?

Mostly elitism and a lack of acknowledgement that people in this demographic were culturally brainwashed and deliberately misinformed using targeted ads and inaccurate reporting on social media. Gotta have a sense of moral superiority towards desperate people who were collectively lied to, subject to years of propaganda and poor education.

I know we're all acting glib here about him saying he'll never vote for Trump again, but if there's one thing that would change people's mind it's their pocketbook.

Now if he said he would also go as far as voting democratic, then idontbelieveyou.gif would be appropriate, but I definitely see affected farmers staying home on election day.

And yet they'll vote for him again cause some of them would rather lose money than see a woman in the White House... or, worse yet, a gay man.
