I was text messaging a friend earlier about Smash and our ability with the characters we use. He was like "I'm pretty good with cloud and I don't know why, I feel I can beat people who are much better than me" So I said, "yeah, I'd have to agree, you do a pretty good job against me with him" Implying that I consider myself a better player than him even though the truth is we're pretty evenly matched and he knows this since we've played so much together. The issue is he didn't even say anything or even react like I made a joke, I know he doesn't think I'm much better than him so it's not like he just agreed or whatever. I personally think what I said is really pretty funny, like not laugh out loud funny but the kind of funny where you have to be like "yep he got me there" and just appreciate it, which is the best kind of humour imo. Knowing the context, is it actually hilarious and it was just too subtle for my friend or am I not as funny as I think? Also, I gotta say thinking about it, humour is so subjective it's literally impossible to say I'm not funny. As long as I find myself funny that's all that matters right?
