I mean most of the games it's used in are cinematic, narrative heavy, linear ones. Games that already have you sitting through a lot of cutscenes, maybe some QTEs, and take control away from you a lot for other events anyways, so honestly it doesn't really bother me. I know what I'm signing up for when I put in a Naughty Dog or MGS game.

I was prepared for Kojima shenanigans, I like them. But the intro of this game is, really, a big fucking non sense. I ended not finishing the game (as a big MGS fan) and kindda hate it (baring its amazing TPS gameplay). So, in a way, that was a good intro.
Actually the first few hours was the highlight for me , after that it was all downhill , lol

Walk and talk happens way more often per game.

Being forced to stare at a menu while you listen to an audio log, instead of being able to listen while playing the game, is so much worse too.

Well, there's always the blatant gameplay-interrupting tutorial.

The worst offender I thought was RDR2.

When you're walking in the chain gang after marooning on that Caribbean island. Took foreeeeeeever and nothing happened either.

I didn't start brand new characters for Destiny 2 on PC because I refused to do the crippled and dying slow walk for a 4th time at the start of a game. That's how much I hate it.

I was surprisingly fond of it in Iconoclasts recently. People who finished the game know the scene.

The entire motif and the boss fight at the end fed into the character development; I found it really, really convincing and good.

Depends on the context and the game

Joel walking injured through the university in TLOU is intense, terrifying, and set my mind racing

Fuck, that rebar pierce though

Forced really slow walking segments are annoying, but they're usually hard to fail. Really difficult qtes might be one thing that's worse.

The GeOW Phone calls were annoying.

When you realize they implemented jogging while hand-earing in Gears 3:

Yes, when a game forces slow-walking on you for literally no (in-universe) justified reason.

Concussion Grenade/loud noises that cause the screen to blur/make a ringing noise and the player staggers around.

Only thing I hate as much are forced QTE sections where even if you pull off the QTE you still lose.

>Is there anything worse than "Cinematic injured walk" in games?

Yes, regular cinematic walk. At least with injured, there's something being conveyed through limitations. It's often pointless and not really earned, but there's an attempt there.
Regular forced cinematic walk is just "we gotta load shit, so here, look at some pretty scenery I guess"

Yep just as annoying as slow walk and talk shit.

Gears of War started it and Naughty Dog took the ball and ran with it.

At least Gears learned and now allows you to "jog" during these sequences.

It absolutely killed the pacing in Uncharted 4 (among other things)

Underwater sections of games that never otherwise deal with underwater traversal are worse.

Escort Missions are often worse.

Underwater Escort Missions with a cinematic injured walking escort is the trifecta of bad.

These scenes are almost always goofy and immersion breaking because after about 30 seconds it's over and your character can miraculously run/jump/fight as if nothing ever happened.

ResetERA
Unskippable Cutscenes
Instafail Stealth sections
~Immersive~ Injured Walking
Conveniently placed explosive containers

...And games that give you the illusion of choice while in reality you only have one option are the worst tropes in modern gaming.

forced walking/talk shit is literally the worst

RDR2 was painful in this regard, the amount of forced walking around camps and dialogues was a frustrating experience, especially when the game is already suffering from bad pacing and you feel like you're snoozing your way to see if the game picks up the pace or not!

Joel injured walking gameplay in university is good.
Because he was indeed injured. What I think OP's referring to is when the player characters walks like they're injured but aren't, e.g. RDR2 does this all the time.

I wish RDR2 had just normal controls and would let me choose the speed with the displacement of the analog stick... the reason why we have those cool things! It would have been a much better game.

Not only that, but even from Gears 1 you could press a button and Marcus would say "yeah yeah I get the idea" and cut the conversation short so you could get back to the actual gameplay. In 2006.

Don't mind it. The MGSV intro is probably one of the best intros in gaming. Fucking amazing that was.

I hate situations where you win the combat, but then after the screen fades, you are shown on the ground like the boss beaten the shit out of you/your group.

I never got to GeOW 3 so that's good to hear that they fixed it!

They also dropped the number of them in the game overall, so it just happens less. It's amazing what being able to jog does for perception though.

I mean, that's the kicker....do you make the character walk half as fast or do you make the hallway twice as long?

All the praise and love Uncharted 2 got, ( and a lot of it is deserved), but the opening of that game with the cinematic injured walk, transitioning into him leaping like 10 goddamn feet forward from a part of a train made me laugh pretty hard.
