Should Democrats try to stop Biden because of the allegations that he is a rapist? If so, how?

  • Yes. Go scorched earth on Biden and try to make Sanders win (scenario 1)

  • Yes. A third candidate should (re)enter the race to achieve a contested convention (scenario 2)

  • Yes. Leaders of the party and others should try to talk to Biden to choose a replacement (scenario 3

  • No. It's too late to stop Biden or to risky to try. We're stuck voting for him (scenario 4)

  • No. I like Biden's policies more so I support him despite him being an (alleged) rapist (stance 5)

The idea that Warren wouldn't be equally as useless with a Republican controlled senate is amusing. It's going to come down to who can energize their voters to flip the Senate in 2022 and who will use the power of executive order the most aggressively, and that's Sanders.

Sanders can't even beat Biden in a primary and you think he's gonna flip the Senate? I don't see that at all.

As for executive orders, I don't WANT a president who just governs by executive order. Executive orders are easy to erase, and the second a Republican takes power they'll just undo all of them. What's the point of a presidency that produces two, maybe three years of good and then it all gets torn the hell away?

I answered the poll that I think the party should talk to him. But my real instinct is that we're stuck with him.

I think we care about this issue a lot more than the press seems to. Nothing about this shows up on Google News if you search for Biden, and I mean nothing. Probably because these are old allegations which isn't enough for the media to make hay of it.

In fact the media is swooning about the "top 10 women Joe Biden might pick as VP" which is pretty far afield of taking this seriously.

Yeah this is one of those things thats going to seem more important/relevant only online/on ERA and then no one else will care

that said im not voting biden

Sanders after 2 years of accomplishing none of his lofty promises would get democrats destroyed in 2022.
biden meanwhile might actually lead us to a 51-49 senate just This November

you want honest, Bernie sucks Biden sucks if the primary didn't have either of them it would be better, Bernie is losing by a wider margin than 2016 and he will lose this one because he's a bad candidate and always has been even if the policies he supports are good.

the narrative will continue to be that Bernie won't be candidate because he lost two primaries

Do you have anything to say in regards to your opinion that Warren is a good candidate?

Hillary's old news on Predictit. Cuomo's in the running now at 5c.

Honestly, Cuomo would be perfect. He's really gained a lot of credibility with how he's handled the epidemic, and he would definitely kick Trump's ass on the debate stage.

It's why I voted for option 2, though 3 would be in the cards as well. Basically, have Biden drop out and decide this at the convention, with someone like Cuomo becoming the nominee even though he would not have any delegates pledged to him on the first ballot.

Even with this, I don't think Sanders can overcome the deficit. Having Biden drop out would work, but I don't see Biden doing that nor would that sit well with people dismissing or ignoring the allegations. Him handing the reigns off would be the best scenario, but the only person that seems close enough in terms of policy would probably be Mayo Pete. Was there any other person running in 2020 that actually had minority support other than Bernie or Biden?

Quick outside view of a Biden, he looks like he is running on fumes, I think he would barely make it through an election, Oval Office is like thank god I can sit down to him metaphorically but he can't obviously. You are basically voting for him to beat Trump and the VP taking over sooner rather than later so whoever that is probably has some sway for voters.

Bernie literally just secured 100% unemployment insurance for the Senate bill that just passed, but yes. "Lofty promises"

He also compromised on the final bill that passed, much to the chagrin of people who think he is unable to do things.

Okay so I want to clarify something here. If Biden did drop out of the race or was forced out by the party or whatever, would you vote for Bernie in the general and do you think he would lose against trump despite the polls suggesting otherwise?

Yes, I'd vote for Bernie. Hell, I voted for him in the California primary. I do think there's a chance he'd beat Trump, but I'm weary if those chances hinge on anything but average turnout from 18-29 year olds.

An argument could be made that some good is better than no good, which is also the argument many people seem to have about Biden. Also you could say that enacting changes gets people used to them and makes them less popular to reverse. It's not preferable but we also might not take the Senate.

The best thing to do would be, to put Biden under heavy surveillance and a trial before the election to find the truth atleast closer to the truth.
If the court rules that he is guilty, he should not run ofcourse and be put in prison.

I'm just afraid that this is Russia doing it again.

No. I like Biden's policies.

Also I don't care for Sanders. He was never really an option for me and is just doing what he did last time staying in well past necessary.

He has no shot but he'll continue on for a little while longer because he doesn't know when to set aside his ego. The possibility of becoming President is very enticing and very hard to let go of. His situation is made worse because he appeared to have a shot at clinching when the reality was he never had a chance. A large field kept him in it.

Some Quarantined News - SOME MORE NEWS

Hi. This week's episode is live from the Some More News bunker as we discuss all things Covid-19, the ghouls trying to make a profit off the situation and......

So Biden is Mia during this crisis, has rape allegations, seems to have some serious mental issues and people still want to vote for him over Bernie who has pivoted to campaign to helping in this situation and who's un-electable, never going to pass policies are currently being passed by the Gop and will be used to win the election against Biden. People are fucking wild. Hope the people on this site that shrug off thousand dollars losses in the stock market and think people should just buy 1000$ headsets during a pandemic enjoy treating retail workers like my self like shit by not electing an actual human being doing good. Rich people on this board are also scared of Bernie not just the media. ✌️

Sanders should go scorched-earth on Biden. Bring up the allegations publicly, ask Biden to respond. He's not going to do this, but he should. It's time to act with some urgency; if the Democratic Party is going to be the party of sexual abusers like Clinton and Biden then it is owed nothing from Bernie.

What's actually going to happen is the mainstream media will not pick up this story until the general election. Biden will get the nomination and Trump-supporting super PACs will run with this, and it'll get traction in the MSM at that point. That doesn't necessarily doom Biden's chances but it's going to be a mess for his supporters. In this scenario I feel for Biden's victim, as I did for Kavanaugh's. Seeing your abuser be raised up even after you bravely came forward with your story must feel awful.

It makes sense. They know this will sink him so they wait to boost this until he is officially the nominee
I just don't buy that all of them are exercising such restraint. They haven't in thirty years. Their game is to bang the drum constantly and to let it build louder and louder as they go until no one can ignore it. They would try to sink him even before he gets the nomination. They'd prefer to send him into the general wounded and weak. Again, it's possible, but there isn't any precedent for me to go by.

It seems to me that this story is the perfect story to guide the attention away from an administration that bungled their pandemic response right over to Biden, and that would be the conservative media's wheelhouse.

Yes we do; this story is geting little traction, Biden is facing zero pressure to answer these allegations/ or calls to drop out, has an insurmountable delagate lead over Sanders, everyone one is focused on the Corona virus.

Biden getting the nom as been clear since Super Tuesday. choice 4 has a higher chance of happening than any of the others.(excluding 5)

Sanders couldn't drum up anything outside of further riling up his small base. It's a base that's a mile deep and an inch wide. He would get destroyed in the general.

What about blindly following a rapest? Is your only argument against the video is its on YouTube? What is Biden doing to fight the current pandemic and why can he form a complete thought and why does he not want to debate Bernie?

Yeah, Biden did a virtual town hall last night.

And the accusations of dementia really need to stop. It's insulting to both people with dementia and people with stutters. There are plenty of valid things to criticize Biden over.

Who said I'm blindly following Biden? He can form a coherent thought, look at some of his speeches instead of cut videos. He has a stutter not dementia. And FFS he's debated Bernie tons of times. Why should he have to continue going to these "DEBATE ME" things when he's won?

I feel like the most likely way Biden isn't the nominee is if he gets sick or dies before the election.
Only way Biden isn't the nominee is if he dies, it feels incredibly naive to believe any other outcome is possible

I'm baffled why this scenario wasn't included in the OP.

Biden's very old and has a history of health problems. I know it's extremely rare for a candidate to die on the campaign trail, but Biden's one of the oldest candidates to ever run for presidential office in US history. Morbid and unlikely as it may be, it's a legitimate possibility that he doesn't make it to the Democratic convention. Then things could get real interesting...

It is the second time in a row Sanders can't convince the average Democrat voter. What is the chance he can convince the average American? It is either Biden or a consensus candidate picked with Biden's support.

The average Democratic voter are negative peace moderates who kind of don't give a shit about the issues they posture to care about so long as it benefits them or coddles them emotionally. After all this is the same Democratic party base that resulted in opinion polls like this.

This time however moderates supposedly don't give a fuck who is on the ballot so long as Trump is out. You have posters here who say they would happily vote for Bloomberg so I hardly see why Bernie Sanders would be that hard of a pill to swallow seeing as how the only 'stain' on his record is being a Socialist, but hey if that label matters significantly more than Donald Trump I'd say we rightfully deserve trash because we love to eat it over everything else.

I'd prefer scenarios 1-3 but they are all very slim chances. Scenario 1 is pretty much impossible at this point given the momentum and 300 delegate lead Biden currently has. Scenario 2 would not help in this stage, because they likely wouldn't take enough away from Biden to halt a majority. Scenario 3 is the most effective, but I doubt the party leadership would step in to do this due to the potential for blow-back and obvious bad optics of stealing the nomination from the front-runner.

In my ideal world people would have shown up for Bernie/Warren in droves during the primary, but a string of campaign errors and bad blood across the party lead to this result.

We literally do not.

Indeed. Public perception of BIll Cosby, Michael Jackson, and other rapists changed extremely quickly because of a single piece of effective viral media. With Jackson, Leaving Neverland was a gamechanger that forever altered the discourse around him the moment it finished airing. And prosecutors were finally able to get the ball rolling on prosecuting Bill Cosby in part because a clip from a fucking Hannibal Buress comedy routine started getting passed around.

Now, obviously, Biden is a politician, not a celebrity, and one that the entire Democratic political machine and swathes of celebrities and mainstream media outlets are doing everything they can to protect. But people who are assuming that the Tara Reade interview is going to have no effect on Joe BIden's campaign are jumping the gun, in my view. Which is why its absolutely essential that we do NOT KEEP QUIET. Cause the story is currently being buried, but it doesn't have to stay buried. Every day, we need to let the country and the world know that Joe Biden is a rapist, and we can not let up for a single moment.

Bernie won the concession after 2016 to allow independents and unregistered voters to vote in the primaries. He's still not winning. I just don't see the actual evidence that he's going to get a lot of votes that just aren't showing up yet because reasons

I mean, I wish Bernie was winning. But he's not. And if you're rejecting the average Democratic voter as someone you need to care about then you have literally no path to the presidency. You need those people. There's too many of them

Of course it's not the 'same' Democratic party. HOWEVER it is the exact 'same' Demographic of moderates in the Democratic party whom are always being appealed to and we always have to coddle unless we want the big changes at the time to happen because 'they vote'.

Back then it was Civil Rights movements and how mean black people are for doing Freedom Buses and sit ins.

Today it's how mean Berners are in demanding UBI, Universal healthcare, taxing the rich, etc. New decade same bullshit.
