Here's a spoiler for you: some people who enjoy games were not born 20 years ago :o
Shocking, I know.
i get that, but for a game as hugely popular as ffvii, trying to contain it is a fruitless endeavour considering most people think of aerith's death scene when they think of vii. not to mention the fact that this information is super easy to come across with social media and whateverThat's kind of the point, the game is so old that a lot of people have never had the chance to play it. Someone who was a 5 year old kid when the game released would be 27 today!
Nah, people shouldn't have to put "Open Spoilers" in the title of any thread about an ancient property. After a couple years, that shit is open season and if you're looking to avoid spoilers, get out of threads about it.That's why we have "open spoilers" threads, and spoiler tags for the rest.
The story is over two decades old. That's why we have "open spoilers" threads, and spoiler tags for the rest.

Shocking, I know.
And has been ported all over the place.
this is an amazingly futile and, quite frankly, ridiculous request
the best way to tackle this would be got-style in the sense that, when the game releases, two separate threads are made -- one for people who have played the game or are aware of the story beats, and one for truly fresh newcomers. even that seems a bit like doing too much for ff7 though.
An entire generation of young kids will be experiencing the story for the first time with the remake.
is there a new hamlet coming out soon?Thats like saying we shouldn't talk about what happens to Simba's dad because the new Lion King is coming out.
I mean, yeah. Shit all the books and everything from the show up to and including season 7 should be fair game. It's funny you mention Game of Thrones when the first book came out in 1991.
That's even older than FFVII, so we should all openly talk about what happens in that, right? Because the HBO-watching crowd totally understands, statute of limitations and all that.
peach does heroin and diesThat said, I can't believe what happens at the end of Super Mario Bros level 1-4. O.O
HOTDOG WIFE ARM STRIKES AGAIN
This story is going to be spoiled right from the beginning, but don't worry. According to research by UC San Diego psychology professor Nicholas Christenfeld, spoilers don't ruin a story: They make you enjoy it even more.
No.
That's like asking someone not to spoil Murder on the Orient Express during the run up to the remake in 2017.
hercule poirot chokes that dude with his mustache and then goes "IM A BELGIE, NOT A FRENCHIE"I was thinking exactly this. Aeris is dead and everyone on the Orient Express is guilty.
I'm not going to actively shout spoilers, instead I'm going to tell people that the spoiler they likely already read doesn't ruin the game in the least, and to enjoy it.Do you have an exact metric for that?
When people line up at Gamestop on launch day (well, let's pretend GS is still around by then) will you ask each one "Hey did you know Aerith dies?"
Actually, I'm pretty sure it's his dead clone twin brother's arm.
If we're doing this, I'll throw out Link's Awakening too, since at this point BotW brought in enough new young fans to not even be aware of that game's plot.
I've always been glad that all the attention Aerith's death gets distracts people from this other more important plot twist.Aeris dying isn't that big of a deal compared to the plot point that CLOUD IS A GODDAMN FRAUD
