To clarify one thing, these are all brand new controllers with zero wear/playtime put on them.
UPDATE 2:
Hmmmm... maybe this was my issue all along?
UPDATE:
To preface this, I went through 5 Xbox One controllers that suffered from similar analog stick issues on the right stick before getting one that works perfectly, so I immediately know what to look for. This is the first time I've experienced it on the left.
Me and my brother decided to buy Switch Pro controllers, and our local store had some in stock so we went down to grab some. First game we try it on is Smash Bros and we simply didn't notice anything yet. Then we jump over to Animal Crossing and this is where it gets bad. Right as we both walk out of our homes, our characters immediately start walking down and to the left without any input required. I run up and let go of the stick to let it flip back to see if my character dead stops, but instead of stopping my character once again starts walking down on its own. Same with my brother's controller.
I decide to take this to the Switch controller calibration screen for the sticks and I sat there re-calibrating as much as possible, but I noticed something. If I hold the stick in place, or have the screen up on my joy-con with no issues, the cursor is dead set on the calibration screen with a green + to indicate it is dead center. These Pro controllers never have that unless I hold the stick in place. As soon as I let go, it's slightly off to the bottom left, which indicates an actual fault on the hardware level resulting in my characters in games moving on their own.
So now I'm stuck here because the controller is extremely comfortable and playing BotW on the joy-con with grip is a bit painful at times, but I have replaced 6 Switch Pro controllers at this point all with the same exact underlying issue that makes games unplayable.
UPDATE 2:
Nintendo Support: Nintendo Switch System Updates and Change History
en-americas-support.nintendo.com
We have fixed an issue where a Nintendo Switch console with system menu version 10.0.0 or 10.0.1 does not set up a new Nintendo Switch Pro Controller, sometimes causing incorrect joystick control.
Hmmmm... maybe this was my issue all along?
UPDATE:
Uhmm... well, there has been odd change of events.
I went around researching Reddit and Youtube and found a video that suggested pressing down on the sticks and blowing inside to loosen up any debris. Me and my brother laughed, but we tried it anyways, and the sticks now sit dead center. I don't know if this is a permanent fix or if it'll show up again, but yeah...
