Good luck to her joining Google. Their history towards female employess is.....interesting, to say the least.
What do you mean?

They have a history of toxic culture towards female employees.
I just went to their website, what has EA Motive done? She launched Ubisoft Toronto where she was head of the studio, then she did it again with EA Motive. So yeah she did a lot.
yeah, like Oculus Rift - Rubin, Suttner, Carmack :) And see what happened.
If you want launch something new that will change market - you need young people with fresh ideas (Nintendo, PS and many other game companies started like this)
I never realised she was held in such high regard here. Many of the responses come across like she is a titan in the gaming industry, not unlike Google snatching up Shigeru Miyamoto or John Carmack. Are Assassin's Creed 1 and Watch_Dogs that widely beloved on ResetEra?
Same here.Yeah, people here treat her like she is some legendary developer, but I look at her resume and I'm like... why? I can only assume why.
Interesting Jade Raymond, Phil Harrison, and Richard Marks all working for Google's gaming division.
Greg Canessa (creator of Xbox Live Arcade) and Jack Buser (Playstation Home) are also working there.
People here not knowing basic corporate titles.. lol she's not VP of the entire company, just their gaming division. Also interesting since they recently tested out their Chrome streaming tech with an Assassin's Creed game.
Also, lets not forget when Amazon was throwing around a lot of money to grab talent to start Amazon Game Studios in 2012.

VP is just a rank below the executives (my company has around 50 of them), a senior rank in management. A leader of a department within a department. Why "lol"? She says she's joining Google as VP with literally no further context given. I was confused by her tweet too.
The context is "I finally can" - meaning she couldnt before -and it happening days before the GDC event. Come onWhy "lol"? She says she's joining Google as VP with literally no further context given. I was confused by her tweet too.
She's a VP. Messing around with a VP might make things a little more problematic if anything happens to her. They have a history of toxic culture towards female employees.
She was probably on garden leave before she could joinThe context is "I finally can" - meaning she couldnt before -and it happening days before the GDC event. Come on
Hasn't she worked at EA for years? Did nothing come out of that? What was her position/job title?
I still remember when she was on that show with Victor Lucas
She's worked for EA as a programmer, including working on Sims online, then she started working as a producer for Ubisoft's on AC.
She was thrown into the spotlight when she was doing a lot of press for that project. After the launch of the AC, she started working on other projects at Ubisoft until 2009-2010? She then Headed up the new Ubisoft Toronto, that she started from scratch. They made the last instalment of Splinter Cell there and helped out on other projects.
That's when a few years ago, she moved back to EA to build a new team, Motive, in Montreal. They worked on several SW: Battlefront projects, but were supposed to help the Amy Hennig Project too. She was also given the reigns of other satellite studios under the Motive umbrella. Then she left in 2018, and now we know she works for Google.
I know it's not Google related but whatever happened to the Benz guy that split from Rockstar Games and was supposedly using that Lumberyard engine for his next open world project. He would be a good pick up for Google IMO.
Because of few people being hired there?

Never understood it. Outside of her being attractive to many, I look at her resume and I see a leader, but I don't see some crazy accomplished Captain Marvel of the gaming industry that people make her out to be. I think being attractive is easily +25 to illusion though.
What?I'm sure Google has high expectations but she'll flop and get at least a $35M exit package after a couple of years. Congrats Jade.
She ist just a VP. Not a fucking name executive. She won't get any compensation / exit package close to that.I'm sure Google has high expectations but she'll flop and get at least a $35M exit package after a couple of years. Congrats Jade.
Remind me in 2 years! She ist just a VP. Not a fucking name executive. She won't get any compensation / exit package close to that.
