So as someone who hasn't seen Bond in ages... do all Craig movies have an overarching narrative? I've only seen Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace (the latter which I found rather bad at the time).

Craig is looking old as fuck, I wonder if they'll commit to a 007 dying on screen when his time is up?

This is not hot take this is the reality but on this forum people only deal with absolutes. Even if you check Rt you'll find the same thing

Real Hot take Craig Bond is better than all the other bonds and all Craig movies are better than previous ones
Easily. Connery is defacto best despite being a product of his time, but Craig easily came into the role like no other. Dalton could have been better if he got more movies, and Brosnan is too much of a dashing rogue for my tastes, the brooding gorilla of Craig is the perfect bond look.

There is something of an overarching plot yes. You can watch them standalone, but stuff like Ralph Fiennes' M, Lea Seydoux's character in No Time to Die, etc are all results of previous movies' plot threads.

Looks great so far, please don't be like Spectre. I remember seeing that on opening day and having the majority of the audience clap at the end and thinking "wtf have you all seen that I haven't?". People don't even clap for movies here either.

I've seen Spectre but I literally can't remember a single thing about it. Watching this trailer and seeing Christoph Waltz I was like "Oh yea... he was in one of these... who was he again?"

Can't say this trailer has gotten me interesting in rewatching Spectre.

Spectre is the only one I've not seen. Got scared off by the impressions but I'll try and watch before this comes out. Hopefully it'll be on Netflix or prime

After watching the trailer god knows how many times, I'm liking this premise more and more. Some things I noticed:
1. Bringing back Felix along with Lea Seydoux's characters is giving me some major Casino Royale parallel vibes. The line about "Everyone's got secrets" harks back to how Vesper betrayed him and M's speech about how obvious it was and how blinded he was by love. In this way, despite going down that road with her again he knew not to trust her and was waiting for the brick house to tumble down once more.
2. I think some of the Rami Malek scenes, especially with the mask, are flashbacks. If he is Dr. No, I would love it if they play with the idea that Bond has faced him once before and he is the one criminal he was not able to bring down.
3. I definitely think Commander Bond will be a thing till the end of the movie. I really hope this isn't the case and they stupidly sooiled it for the trailer, but I get a funny feeling the movie will end with Bond regaining the 007 status, with the sewer gun barrel scene being the closing shot.

Looks pretty sick, but I wish it didn't lean so heavily on Spectre. I was hoping I could get away with leaving Spectre out of my Bond collection, like I've done for other bad Bond movies lol. Oh well. I'm in anyway.

Also Quantum of Solace is a pretty decent Bond flick with a really bad editing style, IMO.

Waltz's character in Spectre was basically this:

The entire Spectre plot twist was so bad, it was so terrible... I really thought the film was pretty good, though a bit too by the numbers. But it completely falls apart from that moment on. The only way I can accept that is, if No Time To Die shows that he's been having serious problems with his actions since. Though I strongly doubt they'd go there. From what we can find out the original ending of Spectre was quite different, but the leaks sure didn't help.

Shame the Sam Smith song is a harbinger for things to come.

God that song sucks
I will never understand how this song ended up, not only being written as it is, but recorded as it is. It's such a hot piece of trash with Smith using his terrible high notes constantly, which gets super grating on your ears no mere seconds, let alone the entire thing.

IIRC he said he wrote it in like 15 mins.

Hot take:

All the Craig Bond movies are good, it's just Casino Royale and Skyfall are much better.
The only truly bad things in any of the Craig Bond movies are the "the bad guy meant to get caught" plot element from Skyfall and the writing (esp. the big reveal that his evil brother caused all the trouble in the other movies) in Spectre. Everything else ranges from good to great.

Hot take:
All bond themes are a cut above the best Eurovision winners or slightly above that. As for the craig era, its easily Another Way to Die>You Know My Name>Writings on the Wall>Skyfall

I hope this movie will get a good and memorable theme, not a fart like Spectre.
I'm kinda worried EON will go with a safe cool guy like Ed Sheeran. Would prefer to be surprised.

If we are talking about Hobbit Era Sheeran I don't see why not. I could see them going for something batshit insane like Dua Lipa, as in how the hell did that happen and why.

Doesn't look like the Craig Bond movies are on UK Netflix or Amazon, and I'm not paying to rewatch them (especially not Quantum and Spectre!). I'm gonna have to wait for the Craig boxset to do a binge one day.

As if Radiohead would do another Bond theme after having their awesome Spectre theme song passed for that milquetoast fucking Writing on the Wall song.

I really never got the total hate for Writings on the Wall. Its not god, but its not bad or offensive, and the high pitched chorus shows signs that if he actually tried it could have been great. Again, Skyfall is easily the worst of the Craig era. I love Adele, but the song is just so middle of the road for her level of talent, and the lyrics use Skyfall as the thematic, but it feels so off knowing what the plot is. And at the very least now with No Time to Die having a pretty revealing trailer, the lyrics to WotW now feel far more apt for Bond and Lea Seydoux's character.

I just don't understand how Janelle Monae has still never been asked to do a Bond song.

Writing on the wall is merely okay. Sam Smith has a great voice but the track is boring.

You know my name followed by skyfall definitely stand high above the other two. And it would be cool to hear Weeknd tackle this Bond theme tbh.

Its time to have some scumbag energy in a bond theme to reflect the character
