Wait, they're considering giving him another Marvel movie? What a strange turn of events.
In that case I hope they come to their senses and offer him a job back. The thing is, Disney and Gunn are still in talks to formerly resolve the issue and discuss a settlement since he was under contract. This is why studios haven't approached him yet. So if Disney sees this and thinks "shit, we messed up" they could probably ask him to come back, which is in the article but left out of the OP.
Maybe him being fired isnt bad for anyone involved. I dont want him to become a GotG factory. It would be interesting to see him play with some DC stuff. Especially Suicide Squad.
Weird to me that they think he's a sick asshole but are happy to use his script. If they really want to maintain an apparent moral highground they should probably throw out his script.
That said as a GOTG fan this is the right call for the movie creatively I guess.
OH MY GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.
Whoever pulled the trigger on firing Gunn (no pun) without taking even a moment to think about what they were doing is so goddamned stupid.

Right? He's gross, we've fired him, and now we're giving him a different movie. What? Just let him make GotG3 if that's your plan. That doesn't make any sense at all lol Taking him off one film then giving him another is dumb as fuck.

He'd be perfect for Doom Patrol though regardless of what he brings.Doom Patrol? Doom Patrol!
But without the stupid comedy, please.
Two sources say there is a hope through the talks that Gunn could return in some fashion, even if it's to develop and direct another Marvel movie. "An end-all verdict hasn't been issued and conversations with Marvel are still ongoing," says one source familiar with the proceedings.
I can't emphasize enough how much of a coup this would be for DC. They tend to go after damaged directors, and at least Gunn still has talent.
A lot of these trade stories do feel like Disney slowly ramping up to hiring him.
Green Lantern into Blackest Night, c'mon DC you can pick yourselves back up.There's no doubt in my mind that WB are eyeing him for Johns' Green Lantern Corps movie.
No, they really can't, especially not in the MCU. Directors have to be willing to work within that framework and many understandably aren't. It's a sandbox but you still have to stay inside the box.Doubt they really care, they can get pretty much any director in the business that they want.
